Since the start fluid fires up the car for a second, maybe the car isnt getting fuel?

Are you getting fuel pressure?

Recently had this problem on my VQ35 running on a 96 ECU.

First time, I found that my modified wire harness had a problem. Is your harness stock? or modified? Make sure you have POWER and GROUND at each coil.

Later on, I found that I blew out ALL of my coils because the ECU went in to some funky mode because of a loose wire. Are you sure all of the coils are good? Check them with a OHM meter, they should have the same basic behavior as if your testing a transistor with the OHM meter (reverse the leads on each set of pins).

BTW, with a new set of coils the engine runs now.. Just need to get the TACH signal working (see my other post).

my wiring harness is stock.i'll check those other thing and thanks and which loose wire, bout your tach signal that would have to be your crank sensor(POS).

updatek jus got back from test everything.it all checks out.this sucks i cant think of what else it could be.i mena i accidently(sp?) let a ground wire touch the + of the battery post and it blew the ign sw 30A fusible link but thats it.i'ce already replaced that.

On mine, I did not have +12V at the coils. Found out that I forgot to hook up the wire in the harness (My harness is all cut and modifed).

When I blew the coils, the coils had good ground and power, but the ECU had a bad ground. Either it lost it, or got some noise because the ECU went in to a mode where it powered ALL the injecors and coils (the coils blew out).

Spoke to someone at JWT who confirms, there is a "software bug" in the ECU that can cause this to happen if the ECU is unhappy.

My TACH problem.. See the other thread.

ok heres the deal i plugged everything in.in acts like it wants to start like it fires up for a spilt sec(with me still turning the key).it does this off and on for a few secs.i noticed when i turn the to the acc pos theres this kinda buzzing noise like from a relay(not the fuel pump)i hope somebody can help.

update: i get a spark once and then it keeps cranking.now i jus need to check to see if im getting fuel.even tho when i unplugged the fpr fuel line to the fuel rail, fuel came gushing out.so is this a good enough test?

Your saying it sparks a few times, then stops?? Crank the engine with one of the plugs removed so you can see if it is sparking.

all you need is 3 things for the engine to run.. Fuel, Spark, and compression. Eliminate the ones that are good.

Sounds to me like you have a vac leak. It is trying to start lean. Could be a bad vac hose, or bad gasket somewhere.

See if you can get it going with some starter fluid (ether).
