Is it factory alarm or just keyless lock-unlock

I'm just curious guys why my "factory alarm" is not working.
A lil. inform. i have a maxima 1997 with factory keyfobs, everything works fine like locking-unlocking, it also rolls windows down but... when i'm locking it with the keyfob and then unlockig it with the key nothing happens. I can just put the key in and go. The only time when car starts honking after being locked it's when i pop the hood up(actually trigger under the hood was broken for a long time and was just hanged on the wires i was thinkig may be that was the problem but i fixed it, and now it's in place, still same problem)
i'm asking because moving soon in really calmless area and want to be some kinda safe.

the only times i've noticed my alarm going off is when i have the windows down and i lock it then reach inside through the window and unlock it. There is a mod in the stickies i believe to wire a thing so it will go off if bumped to hard, you might look into that.

only the 99's + have an immobolizer 95~99 has a very basic alarm, that will make the horn honk when a door is opened while the factory alarm is enabled

what you're describing is normal behavior for the factory keyless / security system. when you put the key in and turn it, it automatically disarms the system. opening the trunk with the key will disarm it too. like motorheadwannab said, if you arm the alarm, roll down the windows, reach inside, unlock the door and open it, the horn should start honking. look in the howtos for information on adding a shock sensor. it's really easy. you can get one for $5-$10 on ebay, and your alarm will be triggered if someone breaks your glass or otherwise tampers with your car. i installed one in my car and it works perfectly.

I have a 95 SE and went had the same experience. Nissans factory alarm waas very basic. Do yourself a favor and get an afternmarket alarm such as Clifford or Prestige to open the doors with the remote and go ff if you try to open the door with just the key.

The factory keyless wont save you if its life depended on it, aftermarket alarm would be your only solution.
