tein h-techs w/ gr2s good or bad?

I am thinking of putting tein H-tech springs on my max, but I currently have gr2s with the stock spring. I know many of you will say that the tokico illuminas would be the better choice for shocks, but could I safely run H-tech springs with the gr-2s?

That should be ok. Just remember that the GR2 is an OEM replacement unit. It cannot take extreme drops. So any lowering springs that give you around 1.5" of drop should work. Also keep in mind that stiff springs will drastically shorten the life of the GR2's or any OEM replacement struts.

I have GR2s and so far only replaced the rear shocks.
I am waiting for my progress springs to arrive before installing the front ones, so I guess you could say im taking a risk by using gr2s with a drop lower than 1.5". I am kinda worried....but then again I have a little faith in them considering how many people buy them and use them with lowered maximas....and I have yet to find a thread about how fast the gr2s crap out after a drop.

The GR2's crap out and its expected so you really don't hear about it. But when Tokico Illuminas or KYB AGX's go out, people cry about it because they are not expected to blow so soon.

I have had my GR2's for a little over a year now with GC's. At times I am tempted to slam it down but I know what will happen if I do. So I keep it a little bit over 1.5" and they are still going strong. Although many still thinks that my Max looks like a 4x4 but I don't care because at least I am not crying about blowing out my struts.

BTW, with the way it is lowered now, I am able to fit 3 fingers in the cap...front and back.

im gonna be gettin the gr2s with progress springs here pretty soon. if they wear out, i wanna get illumnias, but they should last awhile. progress is not that much of a drop.

Progress is more of a drop than Intrax, Eibach, H&R, and others. The only reason I think the GR2s will hold out is the lower spring rate. Im hoping my progress gr2 setup will last, as I dont have the money to purchase illuminas...
(how much do illuminas cost now anyhow?)

i agree with you on that, they have a softer spring rate, so they should last longer.

the shocks/sturts dont make the actual drop any lower or higher, its the springs. progress/gr2 would be the same drop as progress/koni.

the drop on the progress springs is 1.7 front 1.5 rear, produces a perfect level drop.
