Trading my 95 SE for a 95 ACCORD

Reason:
Gas is 3.09 in Connecticut.

Im going to miss my maxima...It came 190hp stock ...The accord 130hp stock ..Im sure as hell not putting any money into it to make it fast because it will not be as fast as a stock max. ....

Reason why i made this forum is simple..I want for you guys to bad mouth me on how much of an idiot I am for trading in my maxima for a honda..

Ill miss you Maxima...You ruled but you have to go....You cost me way too much...

Id like to thank the dudes I met on this forum that helped me out with all my problems and the people that I sold objects too. I love you all, no homo..

What's the gas consumption on the Accord, out of curiosity? All I had to do to make gas prices bearable was slow the f down. I just recently got just under 30mpg on my last tank of gas driving on the highway in my 5MT.

From this:http://research.cars.com/go/crp/rese...=&aff=nationalit seems to be 25mpg, which is a lot better than the Max.

I don't think the milage is that bad. No where near expensive enough to run my pockets dry. I personally would never trade my max for anything. Especially a honda. My friends g/f has a 94 accord and she gets about 30 mpg which is not at all far from what the max gets on the highway. I'm in FL for school and I currently pay about 3.10 a gallon for premium in orlando. I love my max and it will never go.

Your buying a different car because gas prices are affecting you. Come on, Im tired of people *****ing about gas prices but this is pathetic if your trading in the maxima for the accord because of gas prices.

too bad u can't have both, i live in fl too its hard to drive slow out here otherwise some POS pickup will prob rear end ya from tailgaiting. i've to only use half throttle and not rev pass 2800 but it an auto and it slike 90 degrees out here the AC has to come on black leather will burn, so im hurting at the pockets too esp if it cost 50 plus bucks every 1.5 weeks to fill up, i hope i get more to the tank on this try but damn i'm driving real slow at least in accelaration and in the highway @ 2800 rpm i can only go 70-75 at the most still not enough to overpass people just enought to be tailgaited its annoying and I respect ur decision i remember when i had an integra that was my gas saver, oh well driving like a granny will just have to do for now i'm only @ 198 miles on the Odometer and about half tank but i know the max gas gauge isn't perfectly accurate, good luck with the accord, u want it fast put an h22 or k series engine in it, lol it will be fast

Funny you should say that. I already got rear ended by a dodge dakota on my way to school in orlando. The funny thing is, his front bumper got way more damage than my rear bumper did. I just got a bunch of scuffs. The whole drivers side of his bumper popped out.

Don't blame the gas price on the Maxima. There are way more vehicles out there that are more of a gas-guzzler...Maximas are not even remotely close to being one. My tank of gas usually lasts me almost 2 weeks, that's really trying hard to avoid having a lead-foot. There are many ways to reduce gasoline consumption. First and foremost would be to avoid unnecessary trips. I usually plan my stops from where I'm coming from to my destination. If I'm at work and on the way home I'd like to run errands, I'd usually plan my stops to where I don't have to make repeated trips back and forth. Believe me that saves plenty of gas! Second, driving habits. Constantly mashing the gas pedal kills your MPG. Driving over 80 mph does it too. Take it easy! Third, perhaps your car itself isn't running optimally. The following can drastically affect your MPG: fuel filter needing replacement, worn spark plugs, bad KS, dirty air filter, wrong tire pressure, bad/binding brake calipers, etc. Maintain your car well and your car will take care of you. I'm sure there are more suggestions out there.

If gas prices is absolutely killing you regardless. Park the car! Get yourself a mountain bike for trips to the store, gym, etc. Use your car if you have to travel longer distances. Bottom line, use common sense.

Keep the max, 4cyl accord FTL. Like DR-Max said, if you can't afford the gas then park it and get a ride the bike or even the bus for awhile.

Good to hear...Maximas aren't bad on gas at all. It depends on the driver and his lead foot. I get excellent milage with my car. I drive conservativly and i only fill up the tank about every 2 weeks.

Getting rid of a car just for gas prices is gay. Just change your driving habits. Quit mashing the gas and try using mass transit. You are in Hartford, CT. I KNOW there's some type of bus or train system. I take the train to work daily and park my car at the train station. I only use my car for driving to a friends house or to the store or something.

I've had a 96 Honda Accord when I was 16 and when I was 18 I got a 96 max fully loaded. You can't even compare an accord to a Maxima from ANY level. I know I"m a newbie....and I"m not going to explain things to you like everyone else did...I"m just going to let you know....your an A$$Hole. Thank you and goodbye. MAXIMA FTW.

4 banger compared to v6 max that year is a big contrast, newer 4 bangers do a little better powerwise. I know my wife has a 91 and driving it is nothing compared to the max, kinda get spoiled having that power with the max. But like other's said, limit your trips. There are some places I don't go unless I have to do 2 or 3 things in that area, highway driving will be a little bit more tolerable than stop and go local, seafoam, throttlebody cleaning, and tuneups are your friend.

Stop your whining. I get 20 MPG and do 99% of driving around town AND I have a lead foot. If you're getting any worse than this, your car is either in **** poor shape or you're flooring it everywhere you go.

Hindsight is 20/20, hope you are not regretting your decision when prices drop in late summer/fall. It's the same cycle every year, and if you add up your additional expenditures for 5 months of $3+ gas, it is not enough to warrant trading cars. Buy a scooter, sheez...

that's your loss not ours. i think its stupid for you to trade in your car because you might be spending an extra $10 a week in gas. everytime you see a 4th gen you are going to wish you had your 95 back because its a much better car than your honda. it's worth it for me to pay an extra 50 cents a gallon to be in a car that i like rather than a lesbian honda. good luck to you in life.

Honda will save you some money on gas, but the maxima wont take much more for gas.
Extra $30-$40 dollars a month for gas is totally worth to keep the max.
you cannot compare a accord to the maxima specially the 95 accord, it just looks like crap, cheap and not as nearly as comfortable as the maxima.
Trust us, if you do this, you will regret it, so DONT DO IT! but if you do, Good luck to you, but you wont be happy with a POS ACCORD!
Im' out peace!

I had a 96 accord...Not enough of a difference in gas mileage to trade your max...maybe 4-6 mpg....If your that concerned about mpg, get a civic, corolla, sentra, protege, etc....

I had a 94 Accord EX and then went to a 96 MAxima Se...

obviously the Max is better ( V6) and more equiped and personnaly, I find better quality/bang for the buck, oppsoed to a 5th gen accord..

Don't get me wrong, I loved my accord as well, I am just hoping it wasn't a direct trade ( meaning I hope you got some cash back as well)..

but, it isn't really our say on this, I mean, you are the one who drove your max, you are the one who drives the accord, you are the one spending the time and $$$, so it's your call..

BTW, I hope the accord is at least an EX-R?

Y? Is all I have to say. I fill up every two weeks for 40 bucks when it used to cost me $25. Quit being a cheap skate and a traitor to your MAX. U may wind up spending the extra gas money on unknown problems with the accord, whereas, u already know your max. And think about the people with SUV's like Navigators, Expeditions, Tahoes. They are the ones who are really feeling it at the pump.

How about just putting in regular?

I love how everyone treats their max like its their baby, hilarious.
If anything he will buy a newer 4th Gen maxima, those 95s dont look nearly as good as the 99's.

I don't get how you guys go two weeks without filling up....it's just BS!!! I had to try so hard not to floor it and drive normally and yet i still was only able to go 8 days!!! I feel that since it's a 5spd it has to be pushed and it's very hard for myself not to floor it since the intake makes such a sexy sound. LoL

[QUOTE=devilz05]How about just putting in regular?QUOTE]

I put regular in my 99, and I've never had a problem. My gas mileage is probably not the best ever (roughly 22mpg) but being an automatic and living in Boston doesn't help it either. I would rather pay $50 a tank than drive an Accord... :-\ But to each their own

ummm your gonna have to punch the **** out of the accord for it to gain speed when getting on the freeway which would makeup for the less gas mileage that the max gets.....okay i tried to pursuade you....

Not to even mention when hurricanes come and theres this huge shortage of gas. SO DONT EVEN TALK TO ME I DONT EVEN WANNA HEAR AN INCLING OF COMPLAINING OUT OF YOU "HallKemar!!!!!" I commute 80 miles a day, 5 days a week = 400 miles a week = at least 1600 miles a month. I get on average 24 mpg as computed over the course of 8 months. That's approximately 67 gallons a month and @ 3.12 a gallon for 89 octane, that works out to $210 a month or $2,500 a year.

Recomputed for a 4banger camry (no hondas for me, thanks): 1600 miles a month @ 30 mpg @ $3.02 for 87 octane = approximately $2000 a year.

For 500 bucks, I'll keep my Max!

My tank of gas lasts me almost 2 weeks. Your 19 and I'm 37. Your driving habits will obviously be way different than mine. Plus, older drivers are just simply wiser and less aggressive. Of course, you will not get it til you get a little older.

dude.. 37 yr. olds are FTW!!! haha sry nothing personal DR. But to get to the point I'm actually extremely passive when driving and I dont believe I've had a 2 week tank of gas but I've managed about a week and a half just driving normal, shifts from 2.5g to 3 and thats about it. So I'd say I'm a pretty mature driver until friday rolls around and I'm going 100 down what I like to call snake run behind the school to get home to figure out what I'm going to do for the weekend, then we're talking about me watching the gas guage drop.

I sold a '96 Accord EX L 4cyl and replaced it with my baby doll '99 pearl white Max SE. The Accord will get marginally better MPG, but has no where near the power and gets no respect on the road! The other thing to remember is at 105k you'll need to replace the timing belt, $375 at the cheapest. Dealers charge $700+. Don't do it! You'll regret it the first day!

If you want to get a car that saves gas, why not get an older civic? My fiance has a 2000 civic that gets around 38 on the highway.

However, unless you're driving 500+ miles per week, it's a trivial savings.
