Ionic Lip Review

As you all can see, the lip fits and looks great. Gives the car some life. After 2 days of using this lip, it cracked. I hit a curb at about 1-2 MPH while parking and the lip snapped into three pieces. This lip is definitely NOT durable and I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who wants something durable and problem free. The Stillen lip would definitely be worth the extra money. But if you are careful and want an inexpensive lip, this is the way to go. Anyways, I'm going to go back to fixing this lip with some Bondo.

How do you hit a curb? Dont you watch where youre driving? You'd think that having a front lip on your car that you'd be a little more cautious.

Yes wise guy. I know it was my fault. I am just telling people that this lip's durability isn't as strong as it is said to be.

I hit a curb at a parking space next to my parking space. My parking space didn't have a curb and the one next to me did and I didn't see it because I didn't pull out far enough to be able to see the curb.

I have hit all kinds of stuff in the summer with no cracking. Winter time is a different story. I smashed my stillen lip during last winter and fixed it with flex filler. http://www2.northerntool.com/product/384316_384316.htm its held up good so far, its been a few months.

you may need some kind of bonding agent. i would stay clear of the bondo.

Anyhow becareful, dont drive like a knuckle head, and keep away from the curbs.

I have the same lip and have scraped hundreds of times (for example everyday in my driveway). You get wat u pay for. Its almost twice as cheap as the stillen one so dont be complaining too much. Also u have to remember that it is still a fiberglass kit (not urethane like stillen), so yes IT WILL CRACK easily. Also remember that even stillen urethane kits crack, and I know a guy whos did, so if you thinking about buying a stillen kit get it from them or authorized dealer, so you would be eligible for the lifetime waranty. Finally be carefull parking, no warranty covers the stuff that you brake because of your own fault.

oh yea man you got jacked. most ppl pay the total of all 3 of those items on just a set of 19 wheels and tires. JACKED man JACKED.

i just saw the GB for 375 plus s/h for this kit and wow. for prices that low i wouldn't be complaining. i'm sure some lips are weaker then the next even from the same company.

Here in canada, when driving in the extreme cold, I would never ever consider a fiberglass kit, at least for the front end. Polyurathane FTW.

my stillen lip has been through so many things and its still held up. there has been numerious occasions when i folded it 90 degrees against a curb and it still survived.

now if only the paint could hold up as well !

I've had the Ionic lip now for about 1 month or so and yes I've scraped it a few times but it hasn't cracked, hasn't shown any signs of cracking or anything else. I don't know why yours cracked the way that it did but Jose @ Ionic is a standup guy and ID are professional and courteous and provide great customer service. Contact him and see what can be done.

It's $160 shipped right now. The lip was said to be "tear resistant" but my lip tore. It didn't crack or break. It tore. It literally ripped due to it being made of hair-like material.
