led gauge problems
led gauge problems
i just changed my gauge bulbs from wedge bulbs to LED's. I soldered in a 470 ohm resistor and attached it to the wedge bulb holder.
now i have 2 problems. 1st off, im using a white led, but somehow looks almost blueish inside the gauges. is there some kind of blue screen filter in the gauge itself?
2nd, i have an annoying hotspot on 40mph, and at 2.5rpm. this position shows more whitish. i know led's have poor visibility at angles, but i wish i could do somethign about it. i heard if u shave the tip, it increases the angle is this true?
btw: i have the stock se white faced gauges.
i also wish i had pics to show.

I too have that same blueish tint problem in my guages. I took a different route than you though, I put some aftermarket hyper white bulbs beind there and i believe the MPH and the Oil temp gauges turned out a hint of blue/purple more than the other 2 guages. I don't know why this is though?
