70mm Throttle Body - Will Nissan Frontier/Xterra Work In Maxima ??

I was under the hood of my towing pickup, a 2003 Frontier SC Crew Cab, to take some pix of the blower, and I noticed the TB had two cables for throttle and cruise, and the variable resistor and cable connectors on the other side of the body. The TB was flipped over from the position in the Maxima, but looked pretty normal otherwise. Since I'm now looking for a 70mm TB, I'm curious.

Does anyone know if this TB has a 70mm throat, and if it can be used in a 4th gen Max? I looked on car-part.com and found a bunch of 2004-1999 TBs from Xterras and Frontiers at prices from $85 to $225, all over the country. These are all from 3.3L motors - a very few superchargers are listed on a search.

I suppose an adapter would be required, but a fresh source of TBs could be useful.

Better yet - I've got a couple of leftover 4th gen TBs - and the inlet hose looks like it comes off the Frontier TB real easy - I'll check out the TB this weekend.

It LOOKS like it will work, but there are too many unknowns to be sure...

Even if they are the same style TPS then you could just use the 4th gen one. You could probably just run the TB upside-down. IDK if that would affect anything.

The 01+ Pathfinder's will fit with conversion plates and modded IACV plates. Dont' know about the frontiers, though.

Yeah, I don't remember seeing anything about using Frontier or Xterra TBs for our 4th Gen intakes, but just looking at one makes you think that it's gotta work - plus there's a lot of them for cheap at car-part.com. I don't think ther'e any IACV on the 2003 Frontiers, but I can't show that.

You know what? You should shoot a PM at Stephen Max about this. He may know about the compatibility issues. I haven't seen him on the org for a while now. I think he's busy. But if you wanna know more, you should ask him about it. He's the guy who makes adaptor plates for most of us. I got mine from him, the whole set--Modified TB to fit on my car.

The 01.5-04 Pathfinder use the VQ35.

The pre 05 frontier and Xterra use the VG33E. If they are 70mm then it is worth a try. If they can convert the DBW TBs then a VG one shouldn't be hard at all.

You'll need to disassemle it and take some detailed pics of the bottom part of that TB. Pathfinder's TB looks similar to that except the tps and the throttle springs are located on opposite sides of what yours looked like. The major modifications for those tb's to fit on our cars is the bottom of the tb itself. The tb's has got their IACV's under the throttle body, so if that's the same case, you'd have to fab a seal plate to close it up. Then just simply make an adaptor plate for the intake manifold. Good luck.

Looks like we can make it work. Either flip hte TB over or move the tb cable bracket.

Well, for his case, I think he'd have to keep the throttle as is, and just swap the 4th gen's cable positions across. But that thing looks pretty identical to the pathy's that I got.
