look....

changing a friends intake noticed a little sensor lookin thing at the top of the
air box what is it and those with the stillen highflow style intake what did you do with it????? anybody wanna shed some light on this..

There are only 2 sensors that I know of that have to do with air box. One is MAF, but it’s not small (like you said) and your intake has an adaptor for it. The other sensor is Air Intake Temperature sensor, which i have no idea where it goes on an aftermarket intake

ok, so i wonder if i were to just zip tie it somewhere under the hood if it would be ok. or if i gotta retro fit it somewhere in the intake

If it's AIT sensor, i say tie it closer to the intake filter or close to the grille.
