MY first time at the track..

Well last night I went to the infamous midnight drags at my track, (rocky mountain raceway) 4300 ft elevation... I got 2 runs in, and I am happy with what i got. 15.4 my first run, 14.9 second run. I have time slips i just need post them...

I sprayed 125 shot in 1st both times, first time i spun all of first most of second, then the second run i dropped my tire pressure to 22 (I am on 19" rims with 235/35's BFG KDW's...) and only spun out in 1st.
Also in my first run my CEL came on, and it was just a ghost code but it worried me it felt like i had lost some power, second run i only had 900 bottle pressure, ( i think i had more but thats what my in cabin gauge said) so i think i need a better tire/rim combo and i need to throw on jclaws traction bars i have sittin around, and my VLSD in my room. lol

First run was against a 300zx (claimed he was turbo before the run, then he said he was n/a after) who ran a 16.4, and then a SRT-4 with a few mods which ran a 14.7... There were two other maximas there, one with a really nice paint job, ( I talked with him, works at a paint shop, but car is all stock) ran a 17.1 or so, then another kid who is a dumb *** ran a 17, then a 16.8 or so with his 5.5 gen, who was in the parking lot revvin his shi* up all the time and saying how he had pistons sleeves etc, it was humerous.

All in all, i wish i could run at a lower elevation, but i think my times could improve even more with where i am at.

HAHA! Oh my god, what a fool. Thats like this kid with a crossfire I know. He thought that making his crossfire basic model TT would take it from 250hp or whatever they have to 1300 ROFL!

well, im from florida maybe a few feet above sea level so this is an honest question...does the altitude really hurt THAT much? if im not mistaken u ran a 14.9 with a 125 shot wen i know someone with an auto running a 14.5 with a 75 shot. so im just really wowed rite now and glad i dont run the track in that kind of altitude, lol...

The altitude up here usually adds around a second to your quarter mile...

well i dont kno if your refering to me. but i ran 14.6@95 with 75shot, I am auto and was also my first time, 60' was a little crappy like 2.4 and had some spin wen nitrous came on at 3k. I am curious to kno also if elevation makes a huge difference because with 125shot u should be in 13's. unless you had major wheel spin. i think when it comes to big shots like that in our car. slicks is a must!

Well, there are altitude calculations that you can do to figure your time as if I were at sea level, say i was in florida, and it hadn't rained all day like it did here that day and so it wasn't very humid, i could have been a 13.6, as our level does ADD one sec on to our 1/4 mile, so i am positive i could run a 13.9, with mad tire spin which i had in 1st and second, (i was on street tires remember) and i only had two runs, i think with more practice i could pull a 14/1 like my friend did w/ a 125 shot, which would make him approx. a 13.1 sec car. I believe my car as it sits now at sea level can pull a low 13.

Yes, and runnin at vegas or california wheni go see family down there... Believe me, i think its a bummer two when i run a 14.9 sprayin 125, and i see ceasar runnin a 13.9 n/a, but that just tells you a little about what elevation does to your time. Like i posted above, slightly modded 4th and 5.5 gens were in the 17's...

That was on slicks and probably a fair amount of weight reduction over stock. and I may be wrong, but I think it was a 150 shot too.

yes, with mad weight reduction ( i had none) and he has the DEK, and slicks, and he wasn't at 4300 ft. Please, i invite anyone who thinks they can run low 14's n/a to come drag at our track, don't be surprised when you pull a 17 or a high 16.

I too are at 4000ft. My best is 15.6 with boltons and a 5spd. Out here the camaros and trans ams run like mid 14's. If they break into 13's it is really hooked up or spraying.

checked over it quickly but a 14.9 at this track which is located somewhere miles above the rest of us that run would have been a 14.1. someone might need to recheck

Yeah, i should have ran better, but for a really humid day it was all good, 235/35R19's FTL, Drag radials FTW next time. I also have a worn out motor, i dont' know how you do it ceaser... I need to do mad weight reduction and get a blow down tube for my nitrous bottle so i can.

I ran a 15.9 in my car spinning all the way thru first and the beginning of second and third. The track was not in good conditions at all.
