De-k Swap Ecu Issue

I've found a 2001 DE-K engine block complete with all of the electrical looms and the 5th Gen ECU (not sure about the TCU though). I have an SAFC-II tuned to my 4th Gen and was wondering if I could do a straight swap in, replacing my current ECU with the 5th gen ECU?

Thoughts?

I would definitely keep the A32 ECU and save yourself from any headaches. Get EU if you are feeling **** about tuning it.

Thanks guys - appreciated.

Straight swap probably - but how do I manage to activate the 00VI? Will it self-activate or does my SAFC-II do it?

EU can control the 00VI switchover. VAFC2 and a simple RPM switch can too.

Cool, thanks for all the info guys. Just one last (and quite possibly the most inane on this site today) question: what is an rpm switch - is it hard to install - how much is it / was yours?

(okay, so that's 3 questions but I'd be crucified for putting in 3 queston marks wouldn't I?)

Hmm i'm sure someone mentioned buying the V-safc that has the rpm switch already over the safc you got

The RPM switch has a wire that goes to the back of your tacho to get a signal it will then activate a hot wire to turn something on at a certain RPM .. in this case open your VI

I'm in the market for one of these to and of course must be able to get it in/to New Zealand.. I'd go v-safc but don't need the safc features

But I've already installed the SAFC-II because the tuners in AKL said they couldn't tune the VAFC-II to a non-Honda vehicle.

When you find an RPM switch Matt - pls find out if they have 2 for sale.
