G35 17" wheels -- need a quick response

Given that my 1998 I30 has a bolt pattern of 5 x 114.3 with a 40mm offset, will a set of 17" G35 rims with a universal bolt pattern require additional hardware to mount them properly? I think that the normal offset on G35 rims is 48 mm..

Also, what is the OEM size tire that goes on the G35, and if I wanted to go with a low aspect ratio, how low of a profile tire would you suggest?

Thanks!

Should fit right on. At most, you might need some hub rings but I doubt it. Go to tirerack.com to find out the what the right tire is for that G35 rim.

Also, I pretty sure there are tons of 4th gen guys running the G35 rims. Hunt one of them down and see what's up.

215/50/r17s would be the closest match to the I30's 205/65/r15, i think the G35s have 225/50/r17's theyre a little bigger, but should be okay as well

I found a tire diameter calculator on the Net (actually I found a few), that let's you compare up to 5 tire sets at a time.

From what I calculated the 225/45/17 are the closest match-- the stock 205/60/15 are 24.7" in diameter, while the 225/45/17 are 25" in diameter.

Now, I read somewhere that getting tires/wheels that had more than 5% difference in diameter was bad for the car's brkes, and possibly unsafe.

Have you (or anyone else) heard about this?

Also, what would be the largest 17" tire I could put on my 98 I30 assuming that I get the speedo recalibrated to match the change in gear ratios?

fitment.

I had a 2000 I30 and put chrome G35 rims on and the worked great. Only one warning is that the rear tires that come stock on the rims are a little wide 235, and they should be 225's. But cutting the lip off the inside of the wheel well stopped the rubbing when the back end is weighted down IE passengers in the back. Hope that helps.

How did it run with the staggered fitment?
