question about evap canister please

read stickies about code 10 08, and how there is supposed to be NO airflow through the canister,

its the one on top of far right sparkplug on the back. you have to take it off to get to it.

anyway. i tested mine like the sticky says. both ways have very very little airflow.

wondering if that is causing my 10 08 code and is that a dealer only item.. ALSO the round canister under the FSTB, hose has a small crack in it, most already know about this, but could that as well be a cause to my code..

thanks in advance.

replace that cracked hose first, reset your codes and hope it does'nt come back on. if it does then the real fun begins. I had a shop replace my purge solenoid, vacuum cut valve and finally the evap vent control valve O ring for a total of $339.

i have replace some thing in the rear that the dealer told me was the purge volume control valve.. i dunno. i'll pick up a new hose tomorrow,

its directly under the FSTB, if i wrapped the hose in elecrical tape would that prevent it cracking again later on. or would it just take longer

That might work for awhile but you should be able to get a replacement hose from any parts store real cheap. I don't think the tape would be a good idea because of the heat factor under the hood.

I just fixed my 10 08 code by replacing the evap canister purge volume control valve. Here's a link to what I did...

Had the same cel 1008 and changed cannister purge vol. control solenoid valve with a used one ( from max with 170K miles) .The cel came back after a month or 1000 miles. Now I'm looking where to buy a brand new CPVCSV and not used one . I bought the used one for $50.Anybody knows where to buy a new but cheap CPVCSV?

Fuse 58 is in the engine compartment, near the battery. There is a cover you will have to remove to see the fuses and fusable links under it. The diagram is in the sticky on how to fix this code.
