best year 4th gen for vq35

what the easiest year/trim/emission spec 4th gen to attempt a vq35 swap into. i read alot abotu the 95s being a different cat setup and the 99s having a totally different ecu. well i ahvent bought my 4th gen yet, but id be buying it purely to do the swap. what should i be focusing on while looking, honestly i dint think the trim mattered, but id prob go with as bare as possible to save weight.

I would say it's the '95 max that's slightly easier due to their simple evap setup.

Yeah, EARLY 95's are easy to do because of EGR and EVAP.

by early what dates should i look for on the manufactuer date? or how can i tell if its an early one?

alll i plan to do(famous last words) area vq35swap i/h/e and soem sort of ecu upgrade. of course basic road course mods but thats for another forum. is the 95 still the best. i know they had different ecu's depending on years.

i figured a 4.5gen would be fun to have to play with at the road courses with my SHO. im trying to get my dad back into racing. i figure the two cars would be pretty evenly matched.

guess its time to start searching for a 95 5spd and a vq35 n all the junk i need. did they make that nice deep red in 95, i think those look friggin sweet

It is easiest with 95 because, as stated above, their EVAP and EGR are way less complex. In addition to that, the ECU doesn't give 3 flying f**ks about emissions equipment so that opens up a few more options as to how you are going to set up your VQ35.

In terms of ECU, forget it. Just get E-Manage Ultimate and call it a day. With EU, it is a win-win situation (Better tuning, Cheaper, shorter wait).

Enjoy and Good Luck.

May I add that I personally despise my 95 because I have to get the damn tailpipe emissions check and I managed to fail it because of EGR clogging. A simple gas cap and code check is much more simple and less of a hassle if you can get everything setup and codes eliminated.

Its the 95 Fed spec that differs. It has mechanical evap with the carbon canister where the ABS would be, no MAP sensor, and one solenoid controling both evap and EGR.
