What is the advantage to a supercharger vs. a turbocharger. I heard that turbo's need to be rebuilt or replaced every 50k miles is that true for superchargers as well. If not, is there any danger to buying a used supercharger?

I believe that turbos need to be rebuilt becasue of the heat from the exust, superchargers don't suffer from the heat probrem.
