hey guys i'm looking into a low milage 5 speed tranny from a 4rth gen, i believe it's a 97 or 98. the 5 speeds are the same as a 5th gen one right? just curious. i'm asking because mine has a third gear grind again(my buddy drove the hell out of my car) and instead of a rebuild i found this one for really cheap. just curious if it will bolt up fine to everything. thanks.

 

It will fit fine, the shifter might move up some. I would not get it. There is a reason us 4th genners like the 00-01 ones

3rd gear synchros and other updates. Also since the shifter is moved up some it might hit the trim.

 

As I understand it, 4th Gen trannies are more likely to have the improperly shimmed differential bearings than are 5th gen trannies.
