99 max vs late 90's Prelude

wuts better 99Auto max...or a late 90's prelude SH or non SH performance wise..iam unsure of which to get...i kno the maxima has 190 and prelude has 195 i think...which would be faster or easier to be made faster

Geo Metro....the early ones with the 3-cylinder. Less cylinders = less weight

take the 16 year old prelude over the 6or 7yr old maxima. the prelude will definitely hold up stronger and longer than any maxima!...............

well if u were clear enuff on ur first post...maybe some like myself wouldnt assume u were buying like a 1990-1993 prelude.

now ur post seems more easier to answer.
if ur going to go for speed.....i personally would get the prelude. the H22 is one hell of a motor.
my friend had an h22 in a 96 accord and it was a beast. i cannot remember his track times....but for all motor....it was impressive.
i drove the 99 prelude and it was a nice car.
if u wanna build up either a maxima or prelude....i would say prelude.
but it lacks the "comforts" of a maxima. IE:interior comfort and handling.

the maxima is a 4 door sedan
the prelude is a sports car per se..

choice is urs.

by the way...
an automatic tranny prelude= 195hp
manual tranny = 200hp

The Maxima is a four door sports car and the prelude is a just a two door 'fun' car. That's the biggest difference. The H22 is an okay motor with lots of aftermarket support, but the VQ is much more refined and has more potential. There's a point where the H22 vtec or H23 will run out of power and you'd have to go FI or major build. That point comes a lot further out in a maxima. From an unbiased standpoint, I think if you were going to get a coupe it should be RWD. I'd prefer a 240sx, Miata, 240z from the ground up, etc over the lude'. If you want the FWD, I'd go with the Maxima, because aside from the motor and performance, it's really just a better car. That's a fact.
A. Maxima: 4 door, FWD, 5 seater with a great motor
B. Prelude: 2 door, FWD, 5 seater with a good motor.
C. Other: 2 door RWD, 2, 4, or 5 seater with either a good motor or plenty of options for a swap ala 240sx, 240z.
D. Ferrari with 20's

If you can't afford option D, IMO the question really is A or C. Do you really want a "sports coupe" that's FWD? That doesn't sound like that much fun.. go to either extreme or get both, but don't settle on a FWD coupe.

It depends on how much room you need. You are talking about two very different cars, a sedan and a coupe. My previous car was a 98 prelude type sh and the main reason I got rid of it was because I was tired of not having any room. The type sh is heavier than the base prelude but has an electronic limited slip diff that is now found on the Acura RL (only with 4WD). I loved my prelude and I raced a few cars on the streets like a dumb 18 year old would do like a modded 99 max 5 speed and although it was close I beat him. I had a few mods too but no FI (stage 2 clutch, aluminum flywheel, dc headers and thermal cat back). If you want a 2 door car that handles well then go for the lude but if you want a more refined sedan that is sporty go for the max. Do some research.
