Edit: don't tell them it is for performance, tell them the old motor blew and the 3.5 was available, newer and with less miles...

haha...i work in insurance, and it does not matter. Might as well be the engine that came with the car. You have full coverage?

it would probably only be the minimum coverage.

Since you work in insurance, superchargers and turbo's (on a Max), how are they viewed?

insurance cost go by vin numbers, so anything you change or add will not effect your cost, 1 of my brothers friends bought a base Subaru Impreza and dropped 60k worth of work into it he pays nothing for his added Turbos and engine work, just what a regular bottom of the line Impreza cost

That doesnt make sense, why would the only base it on vin numbers. If you get your award winning show car in an accident but you had all your mods and upgrades listed with your insurance, then they'd have to pay to replace everything, and surely they'd have you paying more just incase they did have to replace all those parts.

Dont forget the obvious driver record. That has a big toll on the rates. If you're 22yo and have a clear record for 5+yrs, chances are you pay the same or maybe less for full coverage than a new driver 16yo with only PIP and Liability

If you add any type of coverage on to an existing policy, it's gonna raise the premium. That's common sense. If you have a SHOW car, thats a bit different than if you have a daily driver with a swapped engine. If you wish to insure the engine, go ahead, lots of policies have additional coverage options.

Insurance companies go by a CLUE report, which tracks down the VIN number to see if the car's been in any major violations or accidents. The engine size (if other than stock) or upgrades don't matter (as far as the policy's concerned) if you're not gonna insure them. I bought my 3.5 for 650 with 1 year warranty and my deductible is 750. would it make any sense for me to insure my 3.5?

My friend had a NT auto talon, and we turned it into a turbo 5spd, and he still pays for insurance for his regular NT talon.

kid already totalled it and the bodyshop took about 8 months to restore it plus all the new stuff, in his situation he has to much money thats not really his but thats that.

now Im with allstate, every insurance company is different but you need to ask your agent how adding certain costly options will effect your premiums, my agent told me that what I will pay for protection on aftermarket rims I might as well not cause if they get stolen I can just go buy new ones
