Front Sway Bar end link problems

I went to replace my lower control arms and couldn't get past the front sway bar end links... damn rust! I had to leave it like this:

Like the way I had to leave the socket there too? It won't come off. I broke the tip off one of my flat head screw drivers trying to pry it away.

At any rate, how bad is it that I leave the sway bar like this (partially disconnected)? And, will I have to replace the whole sway bar or will I be able to get someone to replace just that bolted section?

You need better tools.
An impact gun would have blasted that right off.
At this point, cut the thing off and replace the link assy.

Heat, and lots of it, is your best friend when it comes to rust.

You can drive it no problem, I had one side broken for awhile. It just might not handle 100%

Keep twisting on it with the rachet and one of three things will happen.

1. The nut will come off.

2. You'll wring off the nut (which is fine because it's coming out anyway.)

3. You'll break your rachet (trust me, number 2 will happen before you break your rachet.)

Once you do one of the three steps above, if the nut won't come out of the socket, place it in a vice, then take a big hammer and a punch and knock the nut out.

Thanks, good to know I can still drive it safely.

I don't think I'll have a problem getting it off, I'll finagle it some how. I'm more worried about how the part is connected. Will I have to replace the FSB because it is supposed to be connected a certian way?

The sway bar should be fine.

just replace the links... should be like no more than 10$ a peice, probably cheaper.

use some PB blaster or some kind of rust penatrator. and impact wrenches/tools help loads.
