5spd Conversion Issues

Had a few problems on startup. Getting a really rough idle, and a rubbing/clunking sound coming from inside the tranny (the clutch, I assume). The master cylinder is leaking (I have another one), which is what I think the problem is. My theory is this: I'm losing clutch pressure because there is a leak, and it's not letting the clutch completely disengage the flywheel. Another thing is that the shifting action is extremely notchy when the car is started, and won't really even engage any gear. I get the dreaded gear rubbing/grinding sound when I try to shift it. The only way the car will stay alive is if I hold the clutch pedal down completely. I'll put the car into neutral, and when I let it out past a point I'll start getting a shaking clunking noise.

Another problem I had was that all the threads for the manual mount were stripped on the tranny when I got it, along with a support rod bolt. The tranny is currently not even being held up by the manual mount. What can I do to resolve that? Should I just force some slightly bigger bolts in there that are self tapping?

I attribute some of the noise to the fact that the tranny isn't being held up by the manual mount because the tranny isn't 100% stable, but I don't think that this is the complete cause of the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

I would definitely re thread those bolt holes... I wouldn't recommend self tapping bolts either. (if they make such a thing) I am half positive that the shaking/clunking noise you get when in neutral is due to you not having the tranny mount..

Your notchiness is from i'm assuming that the clutch can't be fully depressed, since your MC is leaking.

Swap is complete...after numerous problems I got most everything worked out. Now I just have a little squealing sometimes when the clutch is completely let out. Pics to come.
