My '99 SE-L has some vents in the rear dash area. They're aimed at the rear window. Does anyone know what these vents do?

I thought that they were so that when only the back windows are down, the air has somewhere to go so you don't get the really loud sound of air vibrating.

Those vents are just to allow air to circulate into the trunk. There is no forced ventilation through those ducts. The rear defogger is just the heating elements in the window.

aren't the vents the ones that pull the air back into the a/c system when the recirc. button is on?

Don't think so. There are no air ducts goint from the rear to the front, or visa versa.

NONONONONO

you are right that the the vents are for the trunk, but you have the wrong reason, think about it, when it's hot, the trunk gets VERY hot, and to prevet things to melt there or gets spoiled if you have something in the car, the EXTREMELY hot air goes into the cabin to releave some of the pressure in the trunk

Re: ??

Yup, I think the A/C recycle air intake is right below the glove box, near the front passengers knees.
