Well guys, you asked for in-car video of my car on an autocross course and you got it!! Here is video I shot on Saturday of my Maxima driving on an autocross course. Although the wind noise is a bit loud at times, you can here the great sound of the engine.

Oh, one more thing . . . check out the surprise driver!!!!

my post in the autoX forum

http://thscc.com/autocross/events/20...-0611info.html

my first time doing an autoX - learned a whole lot - a few of my friends have been doing it for quite some time and helped out

y-pipe/cai/rear sway bar/front strut bar/endlinks

one of my runs

http://rapidshare.de/files/22833411/maxima.mpg.html

i ran a 95.x on my best run - the guys that do a lot of autoXs were running low 80s/high 70s

the results will be posted somewhat soon and i'll link to them then

heh my guess would be because you are 17 and he doesn't want you to wreck his car b/c kids don't appreciate free cars as much as ones they bought themself

Great way to teach kids car control that they can use out on the street. I feel all kids should be on a roadcourse or autocross track to learn control. I just instructed a couple guys last weekend on a roadcourse and they are so much better and safer drivers after one day then when they first hit the track.

Thanks for the comments guys. She is 15 yrs old, by the way, and that was her first race. Also, remember, the car is a 6 speed manual.

For those of you who want to learn to drive, note her hand position on the steering wheel. Her hands mostly stay around the 10 and 2 o clock position, and shuffle to make the turn, no hand over hand. Also, note her head position. She doesnt tilt her head in the turns. By keeping your head level, you can drive more precisely.

Sorry if I am boasting a bit. Can't help it sometimes, lol.

Very smooth and relaxed for a first time. Except for that left hander before the slalom, she had good car position all around and never had to jam the brakes. Telling her often to accelerate meant the car was where it needed to be already. Soon she'll be coaching you

We actually do have such events around NYC. I might organize an auto-x meet on nycmaximas, if people will demonstrate enough interest. But I have to get done with my engine cleaning first.

Actually her inital position before the slalom was good, but her turn in was not good (late) which is why she had trouble getting around the first slalom pylon. I told her to accelerate often because she hesitates to accelerate, whch she will learn over time. Frankly, I didnt want her driving too fast the first time out, but I do want to have her learn the acceleration points.

I dont think she'll be coaching me in the near future, but if she gets to that level, Ill be loving it!!!
