Explaination on why people like to de-badge thier Maximas so much?

I mean, I think that, that is one or the best looking parts in the back off a Maxima... And that is the logo of MAXIMA is big letters and the Nissan logo.

Now I get it if people were putting on stillen everything and are modded their cars like no tommorow, cause that looks great, but I don't think it looks attractive when people shave everything off a stock Maxima. It just looks too plain.

Not only that, but if those people try to sell the car, They got to re-apply them and it will never be the same with just DS tape. Emblem glue is great but I think the factory puts it on with so much percision, You can't match it without the preper tools to measure.

Maybe if people took off just the Nissan and put on a newer nissan logo that would be cool but I like all logos intact when seeing Stock maximas around. If I ever put all that nice Stillen stuff on than I would shave away...

lol, People hate things that are "popular" So they got to be differant. IF they want to be differant, Just take the roof off and turn a Maxima into the first ever Maxima convertable.

I debadged the Nissan emblem off my trunk and kept the MAXIMA letterings there. I think it looks perfect on my Maxima!

Ptatohed's top 10 reasons to shave your Maxima and Nissan trunk logos:

11. It will make your car 2 ounces lighter wich will help your 1/4 mile time by .0000001s. I'm just kidding, o.k., seriously, on to the top 10:

10. Because we CAN!! Be grateful we can even do it. Some cars like the Accord, have holes behind the emblyms.

9. Advertising sucks!

8. The M-A-X-I-M-A emblym is just way too large.

7. The Nissan hamburger isn't the best looking logo to begin with. A truly good logo doesn't need to say the manufacturer inside it like Nissan and Ford. Ex. Look at Lexus, Infiniti, Toyota, Acura, Mercedes, etc.

6. Anybody who knows cars, will still know it's a Maxima. If anybody needs to read Maxima to know you have a Maxima, they aren't worth letting know you had a Maxima in the first place. (Huh? what did I just say?)

5. It adds some mystery to your car. It makes people think for a second.

4. It is just way too much fun when you get a parking ticket at school and the Make/model reads 'Unknown'!

3. Chrome sucks! It is tacky and outdated.

2. Be unique! Why look like every other non-customized Maxima out there? And even most customized Maximas for that matter!

1. And the number one reason... drum roll please... go for the CLEAN look!!

Now just make sure to paint the keyhole body color (or shave it - but that's expensive).

Points 6 and 5 contradict each other. You want to mystify those who you deem aren't worth letting know it's a Maxima? Must mean they're worth something...

More importantly, how many times has #4 happened? =)

I agree that it looks clean, but I like leaving my cars with the stock look.

Don't label people. I could say people with your kind of language skills are gay but then I would be generalizing.

I'll take the #11, 10, 9, 7, 5, 4, 3, 1 and some large fries.

somehow i believe it varies from maxima to maxima, some look good with both badges, some look good with none, and some look good with one or the other. Its one of those things where if you see a maxima with only the burger, you'll get used to it being that way and cant imagine it any other way. i think its okay, only if you can't see the maxima or burger still imprinted in the paint. sometimes you can still see it if you look really hard.

My burger was cracking, I felt it was better looking to not be there instead of being an eyesore. No paint discoloration and I'm used to it.

Becuase the burger is hideous and gold is ugly. I like it with the MAXIMA logo only, mines black.

ptatohed pretty much nailed it.
end of thread.
i swear to god if peopel start arguing over which looks better
i did it to be different, and for the clean look, and "mystery"-touch. emblems are cool on classic muscle cars and exotics though.

I like it de-badged because it looks clean, is easier to wax and makes people ask "What is that?"

It's just like everything else on the car. Why do people do this, that, etc. I put my letters on my DASH, like a flippin' RICER.

If you have 2 "Maxima" badges lying around, you can cut them up, and stick 'em back on to spell "animal".

But only if your super gay.

This thread =

Why do people get wheels? why do people do ___________ (any other modification large or small)? This thread gets a 0/10

This should have just been a thought that went in and out of your head, not a waste of bandwidth.

I did it because the MAXIMA emblem was pitted and the chrome was half off of the 'IMA' part. So it was either a f=!@ed up Emblem or half shaved. I left what I could and I think it is alright looking, but I wish it was like factory. I would like to put the MAXIMA emblem back on...but I do not have the precision or the very neat glue (as in clean application) the factory used.
