Help!!! Please!! What Could Have Cause This??
i purchased a rim/tire package roughly 3months ago, i lowered the car the sametime i installed the rims, i should have go it aligned, but i didnt, and that is what some people are telling why this happened because of the alignment; but I think, along with a few others, that it maybe be rubbing up against something, like the outerpart of the shock( i am lowered on GC and agxs. I just ordered a pair of Falken Ze's and i dont want them to look like this after a coulple of months:
my two front tires:

the two rear tire are just fine
P.S.: i dont spin out either

it has to be rubbing on something. you can see in the second picture that the tire is much more worn about 1" from the right edge than on the edge. if it was just alignment the pattern would be more gradual (either worn in the center more or on the edges more). the tires are definately rubbing on something.
what size are your rims and tires and how low do you have the GC's set to? there's definately an alignment problem also (you can see that the inside edge is much more worn than the outside) but that can't be all.

i have 18" rims, and the gc or slammed allthe way; i dunno, when i put the Falkens on imma go to the shop and install my camber kit in, and get them aligned, i may cut off some of the top part of the shock because that is what it looks like to be hitting.
I agree with the alignment. No doubt about it.
For example, I put new tires on my old Stanza and they were nearly wasted 4 months later. It turned out the lower ball joints were shot, causing poor alignment.
After it was fixed, my gas mileage was much better. Less rolling resistance, see?

dko, negative camber is when the wheels are closer together at the top than at the bottom.

What size tires do you have on those 18's?? I'm thinking it might be rubbing on the strut's upper part but that would only happen if your tires were too big. I dont think it matters how low you have it if thats where its rubbing.
It can also be rubbing on the wheel well when you turn or when your car hits a bump, that would be a more logical assumption since your car is dropped that low.
Check you wheel well and see where there might show signs of rubbing. If its rubbing on the strut, I think you might have to get some smaller size tires.

well first of all, the tread on the tire is facing the wrong way, if they were on the right way, then the wear would have been on the other side of the tire. if you are lowered that much, u definitely need a camber kit. if it were rubbing that far into the tire, you would probably be able to feel it in the steering wheel while turning or something

When you lower a Maxima the toe goes way outwards, which in turn wears the inside edge of your tires excessively and quickly. Camber doesn't burn up rubber that fast. Have your toe set and put some new rubber on the front end. After your alignment, I'm sure you'll feel the car track completely different. I can't understand how you didn't feel the car wondering all over the road after you dropped it which throws the toe out so far.
