Muffler Exhaust tip, whats compare to stock?

I want to change the look of the stock muffler tip. I see it has the tip but thats covered with a chrome tip around the original. Looks ok. Someone told me the best thing to do would be to go buy a nice tip from Pepboys, autozne, wherever... and have an Exhaust shop cut off the original tip and just weld the new thicker tip directly onto the muffler...Has anyone done this? Also I was looking at the muffler today and I see alot of chipping and rusting starting to form, so I might just upgrade both,I wanted to see if anyone has some pics of an upgraded muffler with tip that is equivlent to the stock as far as noise and just performance. I don't want to sound like a ricer ya know....

looks too much like a coffee can to me. get something with rolled edges for a more finished look. and maybe not quite so big. your call, though.

LOL I love the tin cup look, like Kevin Costner... I think the wider pipe would be perfect for the 4 gen. The regular pipe with the Chrome tip looks ok, but the wider tip and not so shiney one looks aggressive...Ill post up pics when I eventually do it..

That's a fart cannon. You arn't going to find a tip that thin with a diameter that big, unless you cut it off a fart cannon.

I orginally had a Dynomax Turbo series muffler with a 3" straight tip that I bought all at Advanced Auto. I know went back to a stock muffler with a 4" angled Magnaflow tip. Looks so much better and cleans the back end up nicely. The tip itself was pretty expensive since its a really good brand. I will get up some pics soon.

thats a tip that you can buy from nissan for like 50 bucks or something like that. it is mounted to the stock muffler. I dont exactly know what you mean by the B pipe in terms of HP. If you mean how my system is in terms of overall stock, i bet i gained 20-30hp! Il post a sound thing tommorow.

fine, but it gets loud until 2.5k, its loudest point is 2.5k since its a straight through. sounds alright, nothing to special, could sound better IMO.

Im not saying yours is rusted, im just asking does that tip go over the original tip that is directly welded to the muffler. I added the rusted just cuz I can't stand the way the lttle inner pipe looks like on my car...
