Cost to have clutch replaced

Hi Org,

Havent posted here in a while, how's things? Good...good.

Question: How much would the average clutch swap cost supposing I provide a mechanic with the parts. Nothings broken, just want to go back to stock and I dont want to do the labor again. I'm guessing around $400 - is that high, low or completely outta whack?

Also, when you post, please say whether or not its at the dealership, local mechanic, etc.

THANKS!!!!!!

Guys usually charge about $350 to drop the tranny for anything. In these parts you can get them done for about $200. For me, I did a 5 speed swap so me and my friends can do it ourselves. What I would suggest is to post in your local forum and ask anyone if they would do it for a fee. A lot of people on these forums can change clutched like nothing.

WOW, You guys are lucky, And that is cheap. I live in a blue color town with lots of mech shops and lots of them all charge At least $900 for a clutch kit install without parts. With parts it could be around $1000-1100.

Most places around here will not do just the clutch disk, They will do the whole kit and most likely not take any parts you give them(Depends on the place, and if your cool with them).

Another reason why is is high, Is because it is a FWD car, and those are time consuming and take more attention. I have done one myself, and trust me it sucks. I rather do it on a truck that is RWD, Which I did many times.

DARQMX - I'm in Walpole - so you know how blue collar we are...I think that 1100 is getting seriously fleeced. I've dropped the tranny 3 times (long story) I'm just at the point where I don't have enough time to do and to be honest, dont want to be crawling under the car for a whole weekend to do it again. I'm hoping that I'll be somewhere around the $400 mark 'cuz this guy is a family friend. If there are any locals around I wonder what kinda $$ they'd ask, I dunno how ANYONE can do this in less than a day but I guess I'd like to see it...

$350-$400 is typical for labor. Its really easy though you and a couple buddies could do it on a saturday.

420 for 6 hours of labor...50 for the flywheel resurfacing...plus parts. That's what my clutch job cost.

I posted in the regional forums, but I'd be willing to pay some orgers to give me a hand with this...

I got a quote for $250 for the labor!!!!!!!! I'm psyched about that, if anyone is interested I bet I could hook them up too. This is being done by a Lexus Tech at his shop on his offday...so it's a legitimate, reputable mechanic
