Trunk problem

Trunk problem

When I installed my sound deadener on my trunk lid, it gave me the new problem of not letting me pop my trunk very well. If i pop the trunk and then shut my door the trunk just shuts itself. I have to pop it then open the lid, then close the door. Or I have to use my keyless entry button. But I would like for it to open up enough for me to close my door.

Has enyone else had this problem and knows how to fix it?

Ummm lets see........

The material you put on your trunk deck lid adds weight to it.
Now see if you can figure out whats going on with that little hint.

I knew that it added weight. That's the problem! I want to know how I can fix the trunk for it to pop up better (without removing the sound dampener).
I have seen the use of hood shocks used in the trunk, but I don't want to do something that difficult. I am looking for a more simple fix, if there is one.

wasn't there a thread where some guy installed a trunk popper. so it would open all the way instead of the just open.

I remember seeing a home video of this actually in effect, it was in a garage. It could be done. Just no idea how.

lol want an easy solution? you might not like it but here goes... Tie a longass rubber band from the bottom of your trunk hinge to one of the loops they have on the fasteners in the trunk to give it additional support. Its gonna look crappy, but hey you didn't want to do alot.

The bungee cord idea sounds good, but how would I put it around the bars? The spring idea would work, but I am afraid it would rattle too much + I don't wanna scratch the paint.
