Mine have 'broken' like that many times.

The grommet comes off anf on, it's connected by a spring...

Nothing a ghetto rig (electrical tape) can't fix.

yeah, when i was replacing my coils the rear middle one came out but the boot was still stuck around the sparkplug. had to use the grabber tool and straighten out the teeth on the end to pop it free. i love cheap tools that pay for themselves with one use.

You should be able to get the broken half out using needle nose pliers.

They sell extra long (10-12") pliers at auto parts stores.

Seems like it's pretty common to have the boot come off and stay on the sparkplug or the coil shaft break in the middle when being removed.

A local dealer should have a new coil for around $80-100.

Make sure you know if it's for the front or back since they are shaped differently.

I've been told that the boot stays on the spark plug to way it does because someone didn't use dielectric grease inside the boot. I've had the same thing happen. I used grease ever since and never had a problem...yet. Hope that will help someone out. I always thought the grease was just bologna but I guess not.
