Auto Transmission fluid flush on a 93 GXE.
Auto Transmission fluid flush on a 93 GXE.
My 93 GXE is currently at 150k miles. I must admit that I have neglected the tranny for quite some time. Last time I had a ATF change was I think at 80K miles at the dealership about 5 years back. But still, I have not had any problems with the tranny as yet.
I am currently doing a Auto-RX treatment for the motor oil. My question is, is it a good idea to do a Auto-RX treatment on the tranny also now and do a fluid flush? I am getting conflicting information in previous threads. Many have suggested against a flush, while others have said it is OK as long as you don't have any tranny problems currently. What should I do? If not a fluid flush, what are the recommendations?
Thanks in advance for any tips.

Myself, I would prefer to gradually change the fluid... Drain it out, put new in. Repeat a couple days later, and do this for a few weeks.
Haven't people had issues with flushing these trannys with such high mileage?
At any rate, it's good that you're not having issues. Just continue to drive it the way you do, I assume you go pretty easy on it.

Btw I added "cheaper" fluid first and ended with amsoil.

Yup,start with the cheap dextron III for the flushing, then end up the with good stuff in the end..
The nissanmatic fluid/amsoil is just too expensive to be using it for the flushing stages...
