Using common engineering knowledge, and if the VTCs are disconnected, it might be worth it to use for tuning the cams at the right point in the RPM band for optimum flow.

Or I could just use a term that makes sense to everyone... "It helps to make more power"

either way, it's only about 3-4 hours to pull the timing belt and replace the cam gears.

 

nice, i'd love to see a stock ve run against an otherwise stock vg with those suckers installed. ve would probably still take it, it'd be a lot closer of a race though.. i want a pair.

 

Engine is assembled. I should have it dropped this evening and hooked up by tomorrow and started. I'll have to wait till I get my bearings replaced in the VE hubs later this week before I can drive it though. Either way, my wife is threatening divorce if I don't get it in the car and running! I just wish I could have planned for getting the gears. The van I am driving is sucking my life and wallet to death in terms of fuel economy!

 

I call bs on the divorce thing...She loves maximas as much as you do...Shes just po'd that the engine is not going in her maxima..

Spoke to a guy the other day. He stated that actually, adjustable cam gears are most useful on stock cams. Indicated benifit is not as much on modded cams. My cams have been modified to a moderate cam. I'm sure that there is a gain in either situation, only that the gain is smaller with modded cams due to already enhancing performance of the heads/valves. Thoughts?
