After all the freaking out over my 9-second 0-60 times I still haven't regained confidence that BlackAE was performing the way I thought it should. With altitude, my auto transmission, being told the Maxima wasn't built for driving fast by the Nissan tech, and barely beating a '91 integra to 100kph I was losing faith.

Well, I raced a guy in an Acura 1.6EL today and it was no contest (as it should be). After hitting about 70kph it wasn't even close. After taking a corner at high speed (my tires started screeching, which I didn't expect) he was so far back it wasn't even fun anymore.

Now I'm confident all is as it should be. Just for the record though, beating a 1.6EL is nothing to brag about. It has a 1.6-litre, SOHC, VTEC engine (Horesepower, SAE net: 127 hp @ 6600 rpm, Torque, SAE net: 107 lbs.-ft @ 5500 rpm, Redline: 6900 rpm).

I really have to get a FSTB next. I didn't like the feeling of impending doom on that corner.

Yeah Acura 1.6EL is the Civic EX

Here's the conversion::

CANADA USA
Civic Si (127hp) Civic LX
Civic SiR (160hp) Civic Si

We don't get the Civic with CVT over here in Canada.

And also the SiR are VERY RARE and from what I hear, also expensive. They come close to $30K CDN I think.

The SIR's are certainly not rare here in Vancouver, BC. They are like 1 in every 5 civics. The 1.6EL are like in a 1:3 ratio to civics. These things certainly do sell here in Canada.

Also, 1.6EL is NOT Civic EX. It's like I30 is not Maxima. There are cars named Civic EX here in Canada.

I30 is NOT the Maxima. They share platform and parts but they don't share bodystyle and name.

Do you know what the differences are? I've seen only one in the Bay Area (don't expect to see another one either). From what I saw, it looks like an exact replica (the one I saw looked like a 95 4 door).

Apparently the EL shares the chassis and the drive train and most of it's body panels with the Civic. The EL has differant front end and rear light clusters. I also read that the EL has a stiffer suspension than the civic. There are only minor cosmetic differances (i.e. leather seats, etc.) as far as I can tell. With an Acura you will impress more people. If you're looking to pick up chicks, you'd probably be more successful with the Acura.

I agree..... In terms of performance, the EL is the same as a US Civic EX.....

They are both the same cars with just different body cladding and interior treatments. Same engine/powertrain.
