mileage is getting worse and worse
any ideas? the only performance mod i've done is the oscai, and that was put in a while ago.
i was gettin 23 mpg every single tank, regardless of highway or city. then it creaped down to 22, now it's at 20 mpg. no recent mods, and again, it doesn't matter if it's highway or city driving.
my method of calculating is simple. i reset my tripmeter every time i fill up. then the next time i fill up i just divide the number of gallons into the number of miles on the tripmeter.
my warranty's almost up so if i have to go to the dealer, i wanna go soon. any ideas on what should be checked?

1) Check tire inflation
2) Clean air filter
3) Put a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in your Max on the next fillup.
4) Be sure you're using PREMIUM 91+ pump octane fuel and not regular 87.
You could also try removing the OSCAI and going back to the stock setup and see if your mileage improves to where it was before. That would isolate the OSCAI and see if that's affecting your mileage as well.
But definitely check #1. If you've got just one tire that's low on pressure it'll massively increase the rolling resistance and send your mileage down the toilet. You'll get about a 1mpg increase for every 2psi of inflation you crank up your tires by, generally. The stock pressure in my Accord is 29/30psi F/R, but I have them cranked up to 34psi all around to boost up my mileage on my 95+ % highway driving and it's definitely helped.
So give all those a try

thanks, i'll check the pressure today. as for the other stuff, i use 92+ only, i use fuel injector cleaner every other tank, the filter is K&N with about 2000 miles on it, and the oil is definitely new.
ummmm
dont use any injector cleaner without asking the dealer first. Nissan injectors dont like cleaner and it will damage them. If you must, there is a ratio that is acceptable. the dealer can tell you, and even give you some 'approved' cleaner. As I remember, they said that I could use 1/2 dose of what they had, or like 1/4 dose if I picked up something off the shelf, but they really didnt want me to do that...
A woman at work pumped some into her nissan and had to have her injectors rebuilt.

20 is good. I think Consumer Reports got 21 in their test cycle. I usually get 18 city/. On the highway I can get up to 28, but usually get around 25. In the winter I was lucky to get 23 on the highway. Now that summer is here I'm doing much better. Might have something to do with different formulations of gas and temperature. There are something like 30 different formulations based upon region.

I can relate
I get awful gas mileage too. When new I was getting 23 - 24 city and 26 28 hwy.
I drove to ATL this past weekend and at 320 miles I had 1/4 of a tank. Something is awfully wrong and the dealer see's no problem. My problems acts the opposite of the fuel cut problem. When I let off the throttle you can feel the car pull more than normal. Hard to keep it at a steady speed
I have tried as the old folks say "High Test", inflating tires, driving moderate speeds, the car does'nt have the power it used to have. I think I will sell it..........
