How to complete automatic wiring harness to 5 spd and start car, PNP bypass for autos
LET IT BE KNOWN THIS MOD IS NOT SAFE FOR ANY BEGINNER THAT JUST LEARNED HOW TO DRIVE 5 SPEED. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR CAR AND ENSURE IT IS NOT IN GEAR or in DRIVE for autos
Okay everyone does Automatic to 5 speed conversions. Since it is a expensive mod alot of guys leave that auto harness and drive around with a couple of CELs. Well that sucks and I got into a problem where the car had a long list of codes to include the auto CELs. I went out and purchased a 5 speed ECU and the 5 speed wiring harness. By swapping to 5 speed wiring harness you no longer need the auto ECU. Since the 5 speed wiring harness does not need the Auto ECU the car wont start. We went Nissan to help us. Think they did? NO they did not. They are bad azzes okay
Between myself and two brothers we figured this one out. For this I pulled out the engine. Not a hard modification for me. I even got my 5 year old pumping the engine hoist for me while I align the engine. Well enought of that. Here is the info alot of you guys want. Behind the clutch pedal there is a switch. The switch has a two wires coming out. One is Green and Orange and I forgot the color of the other. What happens when you press it grounds out the relay. Relay box located directly in front of the battery behind the drivers side head lamp. Locate the fuse that reads Inhibit/Clutch Interlock. Flip or pull the complete relay assembly and tap into the orange and Green wire. Ground it.
Now go into the car and start it.
Please let it be known, if you just started driving 5 speeds we all know you have to press the clutch to start the vehicle. By doing this you by pass the everything and the relay is grounded at all times. When the auto is in park it is grounded out. Thats what makes the auto car start. If your PNP is switch is bad you can use this mod and save yourself about $80-145 for the switch. Keep in mind ensure the car is in neutral or park or you may damage that auto tranny. Also use your parking brake for longer tranny life!
