I think 55K of mixed driving sounds right. And not always do fron and rear brakes need to be changed at the same time, sometimes one set goes first and soon to come the other.

Depends on how you drive, the type of driving conditions you drive in and if you prpperly broke in your brakes.

I'm still on factory rotors and pads and I have 33k miles.

I think the fronts are down to 30-40%, but plenty of meat left in the rears.

It comes down to the individual and their driving habits/style.

I use to accellerate to about 40 mph....Then using light to moderate pressure slow down to about 5 mph...without stopping completely. I would do that about ten times with about 300 yards in between each one.......

Why did you change them if they have 80% left?

I seem to change mine about every year or so.
Then again it's usually front then rear and so on. I've finally decided to do all 4 at the same time. I'll see how long these last this time.

Seriously?! Now that explains a lot. Every time my girlfriend would take her car in for inspection, they would tell her that she needed new brakes. I thought they were just messing with her.

Also depends on if you're doing mostly hwy or city driving.. you could probably go 100k miles if you did strictly highway..

My $30 el-cheapo off-shore front rotors last me 35-40K before they get warped... I drive 70/30 city/hwy and I have a heavy foot... I also refuse to spend more than that for rotors... IMO, buying premium, Brembo and whatnot is a waste of $$ esp if you are expecting longer lasting rotors on our Maximas... Our rotors are faulty by design if anything - not sure if the size is the issue or heat disipation, but the less I spend the happier I am And considering I get 35-40K on a set that costs $60 total, I'm happy as SHTF

I just don't understand why everyone complains out OEM rotors. I've had 2 5.5 gens and neither had rotor problems. Braking is great

Oh, you got me wrong - I am not complaining I'm happy as anything considering the way I drive and the minimal cost associated with it every 40K...

BTW, all the other cars I ever owned, I was changing warped rotors as frequently as I do on my Max now. So in my opinion, Maxima brake system is not inferior to others at all...

IMO, if you drive harder/faster and have many more engine upgrades to the car, that will shorten brake life and that's what I think may be one of the reasons brakes will last shorter in some cases here...

72,000 original miles, still on the original rotors. Changed all 4 pads at 50,000 miles.

See, i see it otherwise. Even though I just got my 5.5, the previous owner supposedly cut the rotors at 50K miles, and I was looking at the rotors the other day, and the rears were warp'd.

The front's were "ok" but not great..

That's why I just went with the groupbuy here at .org and got brembo blanks. I've never had problems with my brembo blanks on other cars i've owned. (95 240sx w/ sr & stock 97 Eclipse)

Of all the Japanese cars I've owned, the brakes have always started to warp around 30-35k, so I have to disagree about the Maxima design being faulty. And I don't see why warped rotors have to be replaced (unless you're doing the job yourself). I would just get them cut/ground down and then they're good for another 30-35K.

Yup, I'm doing it myself so it is really cheap I don't believe too much into grinding, as it costs $15-20 and they wouldn't last as long thereafter and for only extra few $$ I get new ones BTW, I just changed the brake fluid. Took me less than 45 mins with my wife assisting
