Had GR2's now thinking about Illuminas

I've had GR2's on maxspeed springs for about 2 years now and im thinking about switching to H&R's with Illuminas. The GR2's with maxspeed springs had a very comfortable ride, but i want to try something new if it can yield extra comfort.

What i would like to know from members who have had experience with Illuminas are... how much stiffer are they than stock on their softest setting? A percentage over stock would be very helpful. I know that the GR2's were a flat 15% stiffer than stock.

Alot of people who have had illuminas say that the ride quality is is better than the GR2's. Can members with illuminas define ride quality?

What i am looking for is a setup geared towards the most comfort. I would like to lower my car about 1.5" all around with the most comfort. I do not want to buy kyb agx's. Ive had them on a civic and honestly all the settings felt the same. STIFF.

Input from members who have had experience with illuminas and gr2's would be most beneficial, but any reviews regarding illuminas will help.

I've never had GR2's but I have had Illuminas and H&R on the car for about 3 weeks or so now. Get them. You won't be sorry. Yes, the ride is stiffer than stock but the handling is fantastic. I have mine set on 2 in front and 3 rear. I haven't played with the settings yet because I want to log some serious time before I change so that I will really see what they are like this way. The only complaint I have is that when I hit a huge pothole or big bump in the road it is very harsh. Over relatively smooth surfaces the ride is adequate. It's not a Licnoln Continental, but it's not supposed to be. I also have a FSTB and the handling is exponentially better than stock. I can take corners as fast as I dare nd it doesn't even feel like the car is at it's limits. For me personally, I too wanted a very comfortable ride and great handling. The compromise in smoothness is acceptible to me for the immense improvement in handling. .02.

the cost difference is not that much. gr2s around mid 300s? illuminas are 408 shipped. thru my time here, i've read most gr2 owners converting to illuminas and wondering why they didnt any sooner. i just bought my set and i'm awaiting my other parts to get in to put them on. a 2 year wait, but i kno i'm making the right decision.

That's when it shines! Solid is and excellent term to describe the new feel of the handling. Before the swap I had stock GLE suspension and a FSTB. I have 17" 225/50 tires in front and 235/50 rear. The swap to H&R/Illuminas dropped the car somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.5" - 1.8"; just enough to obliterate the wheel well gap without being slammed. I have yet to scrape anything. In my opinion, it's a more "mature" looking and performing suspension setup. Not too harsh on the ride quality, no ricey look of dropping your car down "in the weeds" and it's very practical. The wheels are firmly planted in even the tightest curve. Braking nosedive is eliminated almost completely. Body roll in curves can hardly be noticed unless your at the edge of control, and even then it's minimal. Emergency lane change maneuver on a wet road at 85 MPH didn't even cause concern. Spend them money. You'll kick yourself in the **** for not doing it sooner.

They came with 90% tread mounted on my 350Z wheels that I bought for under $300. Too good to pass up. Couldn't throw them out. So when they are bald, I get 235/45/17 all around. Nothing lower, ride will be too bumpy.
