If you love your maxima....
Im posting this in here becuase I really do love my Maxima. No matter how many little quirks it has, at the end of the day its my Maxima. I have never owned a car and really cared about it like this one. lol. I never have to wonder if its going to get me where im going, or if its going to start or not in the morning, cuz it always does (knock on wood) My car has its small issues and no matter how much they make me mad, I cant bring my self to really be like I dont like this car. My Maxima is a wonderful car and I could not be happier. If you love your max show some love!

Anyway, I love my car too. I was kind of thinking of working my ass off and trading it in for a 5.5gen 6speed, and then I realized:
I think I'm gonna keep her until she dies. I bought her with 148K on the odo, almost exactly a year ago. But I really, REALLY like my car, it's no BMW but it's a really nice car nonetheless.
I can't say I love it, but I am the original owner and have had it for 8 yrs. and 6 mos. today! happy 8 1/2 yr. anniversary 98 SE!!
I got a new car this year and lost interest in the Maxima, completely, but then when I started driving the Max and keeping the other car in the garage, I did start to appreciate the Max more.
I think the bottom-line is yes, it has many quirks, and will never be a sports car per se, which some of us want. BUT, it's not a typical family sedan either, and does have a lot of pep. And then, it's typical of a Japanese car--probably can far outlast the owner's interest. Just go to the 6th gen board--I get the feeling they are older, yet they are buying new cars constantly, blah blah blah. It will be rarer imho to see people on that forum post that they reached 170k, 200k 250k etc. So the car suits its purpose for sure, to stay reliable far beyond what the original owner is looking to get from it.
Me? I'm at 128k, I'm sure many here would say mine has a lot more miles to go, so that is a very positive thing about the Maxima.

I love my maxima, had it for five years... bought it at 60,000 miles from a bank exec, started modifying it and havent stopped!! its an addiction that can cause plenty of pain and frustration when downtime occurs, but when you go for a drive and things are perfect there is no greater feeling of pride or enjoyment... my car now has over 215,000 miles on the engine, and about 4 months ago without missing a beat or showing any classic signs of old age, i was able to accelerate to over 140 mph(pegged past it) in 5th gear at 4500rpm, still having 2400rpm to go to redline and there is no doubt it would have pulled all the way to redline...Yes i love my Maxima.....
I have been with my 95 GXE 5spd for 6 years now, bought it at 67,000, now at 137,000.
There are very few cars that I test drive (and I test drive a lot) that make me think, damn, I should sell my max and get a new car. I've modified it enough, little by little to update it looks and performance wise that I have no compelling reason to get rid of it! It really makes me appreciate it after I test drive brand new cars! Can't wait for my JWT ecu to come!!! Days away! JWT + MEVI FTW!
Like an old leather glove, it fits in all the right places.

my mom's first car was a 2nd gen maxima and after a couple years she ended up selling it and my dad got her an acura vigor. couple weeks later the vigor got into an accident so we sold it and my dad bought my mom a 3rd gen brougham maxima. my dad past away 6 years ago and we dont have much left of his belonging but we still have my moms max its been 10 years now. As for me, searching for a first car, I wanted a civic, integra or 240sx and swap something etc. the thing thats crazy is that i've been searching so much for a good car and I ended up on my 96 se 5spd. for some reason, it feels like that car was meant to be mine

Love my Maxima very much, she's only my second car and I use to hate the Max's back in 99-00 because they were the only sedans on the road that I couldn't beat (go figure). But now, I can't imagine having much anything else I damn near cried when she got broken into.....true story...
I feel the same way...
My car has been through some hell!! I bought it from a salvage lot in 2002(flood victim)... then about two years after I bought it, it was stolen and recovered....then about a year and a half later, hit from the front... then this passed January, hit from behind.
But it still with me!!
I tell my family that in 20 yrs from now.. I'll still have it!

i love my 1986 2nd gen, which has had its share of problems in its 20 years, most of them occurred after I bought it. But through all of it I try and take care of her as much as I can, though with my limited budget I can't give her anywhere near the amount of TLC I want to. I don't plan on selling her anytime soon (although I may get another car).
I enjoy my Maxima a lot, but I am kind of "finished with it." I don't drive it much and there isn't much more I want to do to fix it up. That's why it's for sale. I want another project to start on.
No matter what car I have, I will always love the look of the 3rd gen Maxima. Ever since I bought my first one in the mid-90s, I have loved the look of them.

I work at a Chevrolet dealership and every day after driving Chevys, both new and old, trucks/sedans/vans, I get into my car and am like
Even some of the brand new SS Impalas and such do not compare to the comfort of a Maxima, sure it has 303HP and is a little quicker, but i'll take my baby over any one of those Chevy's any day, in acception of a Z06
But all in all, comfort/style/sportiness/luxury, it has an even amount of all of it for me!

I love the my baby as well. I truly enjoy driving her. right now I am at a point where I am thinking of parting with her. I think about all of the money I put into her that I will never get back. I think about a muscle car, which won't ride as well, won't handle as well, and won't bring me as much of a thrill, but will appreciate in value.
That is the downfall of import cars, they drive better and last longer than domestic cars, But you can never put money into them and get it back.

Just got my 95 SE and I am looking foward to putting some money into it to help it stay strong and look good for years.
With a little luck she will last until I can get a new 8th gen Maxima in about 14 years.
Love it to death, my girl WILL be taken care of.

Maximas are really a notch up other cars IMO and for 1rst, 2nd, 3rd (like mine) and 4th gens, we probably spent some much money it would be a heartbroker to let it go to someone else. I'd rather dig her grave than to let it to someone who's gonna beat the hell out of it when i've put some much, time & money into it.
Owning my Maxima has been so much fun! She beautiful! I look at her with such contentment that she is mine. People can tell I love my car just by the smile I have on my face when I look at her... They get surprised that a chic has such a "relationship" with her car.
Love it!

most of my problems origionated from the previous owner doing nothing but changing the oil, which they probally did more than it needed to but they went 155,000 miles on the factory timing belt which the teeth decided to come off of a week before the appointment to get it changed.
any way of the time i have had it its only stranded me that once, i have seen never cars get my friends stranded for part failures so its kinda like what the heck, mine may go into hibernation soon though, some work needs to be done, the kinda of work where i may not have a car for a bit...or seats in a car for a bit is a little more specific.
