Driver door window slow as a slug going up

Well i'm thinking that i need to replace the motor for the driver door window. It still goes down pretty quickly, but lately goes up REAL slowly. There are tons of them, regulator with motor, on Ebay and i'm not sure who to trust and which one is good quality. 1A Auto claims that there are high and low quality versions. Should i trust an Ebay unit, 1A Auto unit, or should i just give Courtesy Parts a call like i usually do.

Have you tried lubricating the edges where the window slides against the rubber?

Try lubricating the window channels with silicone spray.

I'm getting around to lubing my setup too. The silicon spray goes in the window tracks (sides of window), and lubing the rubber part as Dan says (the rubber that scrubs the window). Also, if you've got the time, take the interior door panel off and lube the track that the motor glides on.

I had this on another car - dunno if its applicable so ignore me if it aint. But the sides of the window ride in a fabric slot and after 10years of up n down they bunch up and jam. When the window goes down it straightens it out but going up it gets all bunched up again.

Cheaper than a motor and silicon lube just gets everywhere.

That's why you don't use silicone "lube". Use the spray. It's much better and dries quickly. Works like a charm for slowly gliding power windows. Once applied, the windows slide much smoother and quickly.

Thanks for the responses. So it looks like it's just a lubrication issue. I thought maybe the motor was getting tired and could no longer handle the weight of the window and gravity on the way up .

That stuff smears on the glass and runs... doesn't dry and stick like the silicon spray does.

I've got a 96 I30 (same doors). My suggestion is that you take off the door panel and look inside. There is a how to on the first page of this forum in the FAQs. It involves 5 or 6 screws and a gentle but firm touch. Once inside look at the track to see if it's a smooth curve or bent anywhere.

I have a motor and track that I'll sell cheap. I pulled it off a 96 Maxima at a junk yard before realizing that mine didn't need to be replaced. It's not a hard job, just requires time and light.

Also check to see that the door reinforcement (curved bar) isn't bent inward from the crash. That's the problem with my door.

Well as much as lube might help the situation, you could actually have a dying motor. Use the lube but you might need the motor. If you do go to the dealer and find the number. Then go to rock-auto or car-part or an actual junkyard.
