frmr 89 owner to buy 015spd or 02auto which one and why?

Hey guys,

Its been a long time since I sold my 89, hated to do it. However IM in the market again for another max. Im trying to decide between an 02 auto max se with 70k miles for 12995 or an 01 5spd max se w 82miles for 11986.

I prefer manuals but IM wondering if the hids/leather/3.5 on the 02 would make up for the lack of the manual? All other things being equal.

Ive read several posts about the 3.5 burning oil but I cant seem to get a feel for how common this is. Is it only in the max or the other 3.5 vehicles such as the altima, and I belive 350z that have this issue?

Im also looking at an 02 wrx wagon as well but thats another issue.

Which max would you get and why?

Thanks.
Steve

I would take the 02. It might be auto but who cares. Like you said it has the 3.5 leather and hids. Its a lot cheaper to do a 5 speed converstion than an engine swap..not to mention the lower mileage.

'02 6sp, I'd personally hold out for one. If you don't care whether it's auto/stick, then obviously the 02. But there will be other good cars out there to pick from, and the 6sp is infinitely funner than the auto.

this is STRICTLY what you would rather have...stick or automatic...nobody on here can really help you with that, i personally would take the 01 because its stick, but if you can wait, wait for an 02 6spd.

At the end of the day I would go with the Lower mileage. Not sure how it is in Arizona. But by me the HID's are a liability. Leather should be hell in Arizona. But again, LOW MILEAGE all the way if you care less about Manual or 5spd.

Unless you really want a manual, go with the 02 auto. You will enjoy the auto just as much with the VQ35. And BTW the oil burning is not as wide spread at all as it seems....my 03 doesnt burn.

He's in AR: Arkansas.

LOL

You made me look too, as I have a few good deals in my Autotrader folder in my Favorites I could link him to. Here's one: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...=en&cardist=29

I got mine 2 months ago. 2002 SE 6-speed with 68K miles for basically $11,300.00 out the door. And no, there are no known HID issues where I am, but then again, I live in the suburbs at the edge of Metro Phoenix.

Get the automatic...............if you want a bland, boring driving experience.
