Do You Have To Gap The NGK V-Power Copper Plugs ?

The NGK V-power copper plugs (BKR5E-11) are very cheap, and I heard they give a better spark than the platinum. I have no problems changing them every 20k-30k.

The only thing is that they require gapping(according to Strauss instructions).

Did anyone put them in without gapping ?

Are the V-Power plugs from Strauss and the Dealership the same ? (it's the same model number everywhere BKR5E-11) and is the factory preset gap the same ?

gapping is no big deal at all, takes 2 minutes to do all of them. Pick up a plug gapper from strauss for $.99 and gap them to .043. Its simple, you'll see what i mean

its not that hard, slide the gapper it between the electrode point and the tab and just turn the ring to the appriorite number.

Thanks , I'm gonna try it. I heard NGK's come pre gapped at, or very near, the required spec. What was the factory preset gap on your plugs ?

Conclusion: We don't have to gap the V-Power plugs since the NGK Platinums and Iridiums that don't require gapping have the same factory set gap of 0.044 as the V-Power.

Did anyone get V-Power plugs that had a different gap other than 0.044 ?

Of all the sets I've ever bought I never have gapped them.

Probably a good idea, but you asked if you had to, and I say no.

I went to Strauss today and bought NGK V-Power plugs (1.99 each).
I checked the factory set gap and it was 0.032.

The 0.044 gap that NGK website shows is the gap that you should set for your Maxima. Every car needs a different gap.

You should gap all spark plugs according to your car manufacturer's specifications because the plugs are not gapped spesifically for your car(besides the ones that you buy at Nissan stealership).

I used them specific to the VQ30DE and didn't gap them, they were pre-gapped.

-11 in the part number is the gap. but it's not a bad idea to check them yourself.

The platinum g-power plugs are the wrong plug to use. Stick with the laser platinum OEM plugs or the v-power coppers.

I have already stated the reason: they are the wrong plugs to use.

They're fine to use in the Maxima. Check the NGK website, they say it's a recommended plug as well as the others.

Performs as well as the laser plats they just don't hold up as long.

The only reason not to is if you're expecting them to go 60,000. They're rated for more like 30,000.

I've had them in my max for a couple of months and they're great.

it's just a good idea to gap new plugs if only for the reason that they could have been dropped b4 you got them or something stupid like that and it only takes a second...
