Anyone have problems with Yellow Top in a 5th Gen?

Hey guys I just got a yellow top and the install of it wasn't as simple as i'd thought...the pos wire doesnt reach the terminal on the top or side....the L-shap curve of the wire prevents it from reaching all the way. Anyone else run into this problem?? or anyone have suggestions on fixing this?? for now i just used a cheap extension wire (wrong gauge) to make it work, but i want to fix it so it done correctly. thanks!

Is that current pos wire zip tied anywhere else where you can break it free to give you some slack?

Which yellow top do you have? I had to bend the pos wire L connector just a little to get it to fit.

i have the 34/78 model, it has the terminals closer to the front of the car. I did see the zip ties that hold it back, BUT the L-shape of the plug still isnt deep enough to connect on the positive terminal....anyway to get around this??

i had the same problem. all i did was bend the bracket a lil bit and i actually cut/trimmed the plastic pieces that prevents the terminal from sitting flush. kinda hard to explain w/o pics put just look for the two plastic edges that prevent the batery from sitting flush cut them, and ur all good. u might wanna tap the terminal a lil bit with a rubber mallet or hammer. g' luck

i heard there was a new yellow top model that specifically fits our cars, its got the terminals closer to the back rather than the middle, dont know part number tho.

I had the same problem. Luckily I was at autozone when I changed it and I bought a longer lead. It extended the lead by about an inch. I still had to play with it a little to get it to reach. Good luck.

my red top has the terminals up front also. i had to remove the tray that came with the battery and cut a few zip ties also to get my wires to reach. but then the issue was my battery tie down didnt hold the battery down so i had to make my own tray, shorter than the supplied but just enough to allow the tie down to keep pressure on the battery
