Cheapest suspension set-up thats better than stock

My stock struts/strutbearings, mounts are all shot. I am looking to replace everything and would like it to be better than stock but I don't want to pay much more than the stock replacements from autozone would cost. So what is my best option. Will replacing the struts with stiffer struts improve handling over stock struts because I know that adding springs to the package will jack up costs a little.

if u want suspensions, I suggest u don't get cheap ones ESPECIALLY on ebay... u get what u paid for, u want cheap price, u'll get cheap products... I suggest the Tokico Illuminas, because they go with just about every spring set up there is.

for all ur inquiries, go to the page that scrhale posted above, although I have to say that some of the prices are out of date...

Come on....you guys need to read the forums. There are so many threads about this stuff already. People answer the same questions every week.

Just two I found on the first few pages of the forum. Plus the maxmods site gives a run down on all the stuff.

Cheap suspension will get you nowhere. If you replace just the struts you are really not doing anything. Springs are really what changes the ride. You can find setups for cheaper on the forum. Look in Group Deals. There is still a suspension deal going on with every setup.

And no, springs actually cost less than struts....

Best bang for the buck: Tokico HP struts and Tokicio springs with all OEM parts from Daveb. Most KYB mounts/hardwear/boots are junk and will wear out quick. Chances are you'll only need new boots, maybe front upper mounts. Everything else usually lasts. Tokico struts come with new hardwear for the rear, so thats covered.

Stiffer struts will make for a sportier ride but you wont want to spend $400+ on adjustable struts. The HP's are similar to stock but are stiffer. GR-2 from KYB are much stiffer than stock and will ride harsh. With the stock springs you may or may not like the ride. I know I hate GR-2's period.

oh ya gotta say that the set up that i have is pretty much close to stock. it'll lower your car a lil bit but not by too much, makes the maxima look so much better though

"Better than stock..." Better how? Handling? Ride?

You will get slightly better handling from firmer struts, but nothing like what you'll get from springs.

If you're asking about spring/strut combos, the CHEAPEST you should consider is the Tokico HP kit, which should run you around $450 shipped. There is absolutely nothing that cheap (or cheaper) that is worth the money. If $450 is too much, then just get yourself a set of Tokico HP struts/shocks and call it a day. They will still make your car handle better than stock on their own, and they will ride very well.

on the expressways....my s-tech/AGX combo was smooth on expressways at full stiff COME ON MAN......how bout potholes..manhole covers..steep driveays....driveways with bumps in the approach....corners and 50mph, auto-x...roadcourse...and most people dont even realize they are the bumstops...they think its just a noise cause u hit a pothole...the origninal poster was vague at what he wants....as far as money spent...u can always find deals u just gotta look........i paid just as the same price for my KONIs which are 100x better than illuminas as I would have for Illuminas....
