Does it click, or when the key is in Start does it do nothing at all? Without more info, it really could be your ignition switch, starter, or anything in between (i.e. wiring harness, relays, etc).

Sounds like exactly the ptoblem Im having...have been told I should start with the switch....havent been able to find one though, dont wanna order online cause I want it now but dont where to find one....did your car start eventually? Mine did after 20 attempts....then all of a sudden its been fine for past 2 days.

That sucks.....mine wouldnt start sometimes but eventually it did....I replaced the ignition switch this morning and have started and re-started it like 30 times today without incident. The switch was 45 bucks from Autozone and was VERY easy to do. This is the write up I found and followed it,actually sounds harder than it ishttp://www.howtomendit.com/answers.php?id=40511

Who are you asking this question? I don't know what my problem could be. I can kick start the car (5-speed) and the battery is charged, but it doesn't do anything. The clock is on and the dash lights come on.

"Doesn't do anything", as in, the engine won't start/rev, period? I had a problem with mine where it would start, idle for a second or two, then cut off (I could even rev it, but duration between start and cut-off would be the same). It turned out that the problem was with the immobilizer/security system. I'm unsure of whether or not it could act up differently in different year models, or depending on the situation, but I'm just citing it as a possibility.

Make sure all battery terminals are corrosion free.
Try jumping the car again
try forcully tapping the starter while cranking
It wouldnt be your ignition switch, if it was bad you wouldnt hear the clicking sound, it would be silent.
try that if those dont work, testing the starter (at local autostore) would be next, then more. . .
97's dont have the immobilzer

In my situation the car doesn't make a sound. I took the battery to an auto parts store today and they charged it for me. I also cleaned the terminals before I hooked it back up so that is good too. I just turn the key and no sound is made. Last night, it was making a sound like it was trying to turn over, but now it doesn't make any sounds.
Maybe my problem is the ignition switch.

test the ignition switch and find out. Test with multi meter.
sometimes with abad ignition switch you can jiggle the keys while trying to crank and sometimes it might work. If that occurs you definately have a bad ignition switch.

Have you tried Tapping the starter before trying to start? if you tap it and then it starts, then yes it's starter
