Iacv question for the dek swap I got a idea?
ok im looking at the 5th gen iacv housing. it just has and air passenge before the throttle body and one right afterthe throttle body into the manifold. The 5th gen pulled air to the iacv from both into the same to the iacv. On the 4th gen it pulls from the mid pipe and the manifold. But what I was wonder if i could just take the off the 5th gen iacv and weld a nippel on to it to send my hose to the 4th gn iacv.and run a hose to the other connection on the 4th gen iacv to the mid pipe. As you can see in this pic with it removed!

I would jsut mak a plate to go on the 4th gen iacv. and make a nipple and send it to the whole in the pic where the 5ht gen iacv was.
AS you can see in this pic the two air passenge. the middle is a water jacket so I can keep the water to the throttle body.

So what do you think would it work right.

I think what he is saying is that "if" it would work on an 00vi install where you want to use the 4th gen IACV and a DEK TB with a block off plate for the DEK IACV, that because it was the location for the stock DEK IACV, why would it not be a good location for the vacume line for the 4th gen IACV?
Makes since, and could prove to be a very clean install....and easy to fab up a block off plate and just install a 3/8" nipple for the line.
Plus you wouldnt have to worry about the lack of the correct size nipples on the 00vi upper.
Im I on track here?
One problem if you plan to keep the DEK IACV and gut it of its componets to just use for a vacume location would be the size.....you would have to re route lines under the TB because there isnt enough room.....but if its possiable it would make more since to fab a block off plate like the one pictured on Tantanos website and install a nipple.

(right on the front where the old sensor was for the 5th gen. ) Ill put a 1/2 nippel on it and run the hose back to the 4th gen iacv plate. That way I dont have to tap the plastic manifold and keep the water line to the throttle body. tell me what you think?
I might be jacking this alittle, but its related...
If you are using the DEK TB and want to still have the water line, but are using a block off plate instead of the factory DEK IACV, could you just install two nipples on the block off plate and run the water through that? Wouldnt thes help with cold starts.... Im not going to use the DEK IACV because i dont want to re-route all the lines under where it would go.

Please explain what you are trying to do. I dont understand fully.
I just blocked off the TB where the 5th gen IACV goes to, and just used my 4th gen IACV. Using both is kinda pointless and there really isnt alot of room in there.

is it even needed to have the coolant going through the TB? I know that this is what most people have made

would it seal up correctly to install three nipples on this: two for coolant in and out, and one for vacume to be run to the 4th gen IACV?

perhaps you should ask in the all motor forum....thats where most of the 00vi swaps have been done.
Even if your not going to have the 5th gen IACV sensor in and fab up a piece to cover where it is, and install nipple for the 4th gen IACV that you will be using, there is not enough room for the assembly to fit. thats one of the reasons why the block off plate has to be fabed up. Unless you could install the three nipples like i described above, it would probably be more work than its worth because you would have to re-route everything below where it would be located.

Got your PM sergofast. I think what you are proposing is feasible, as long as you rerun all the vacuum spiders under the TB. As matty said, there is virtually no room under the TB unless you rerun all the spiders. I have a spare 5th gen IACV plate and had thought of doing exactly what you guys are talking about until I saw the clearance issues. It would make for a clean install, but more work rerunning the vacuum. Just my .02.
