It's the metal tube that comes from the tank to the side of the car so u can fill u'r gas tank.
I had a hole rust in mine on my 95 and so I went to the dealership, they don't stock them but they can order them in (every dealership can) if there is one in a northamerican warehouse it'll take a few days if they havta order from jap a week or so.

Not the fuel filter, he is referring to the nozzle where you put the gas in the car is rusted out.
I personally haven't heard of anyone replacing that, but I would think it could be done. You may want to try car-parts.com, but I'm not sure what you would search for.
Good luck.
edit: damn it boothhead beat me to it
car-part should be a good source. careful places might say you have to buy the whole gas tank. I cant remember if that is a attached with the tank or bolts on at a certain location.
On thing you wont want to do is have some one cut it out and weld in a new one. . . . hello Mushroom cloud

There's a filler tube assembly that attaches to the tank. There's all kinds of guys parting out Maximas in the 4th gen classsifieds. I'd try to find one that comes from an area where salt and rust aren't an issue.
