KS fault automaticlly retards even if its good

Just wanted some thoughts on this, i pop the consult 2 on this when i cleared my airbag fault and i noticed a KS fault, i drove on that for months didn't notice too much. so i finally got a good price on a knock on ebay. i go take it out everything was a breeze. and when i went to line it up i failed cause my hand didn't wanna go in and it got dark so i gave up. left the harness wrapped around without the KS. i drove with a KS for about a week.

i average 20 city and 24 highway. that week i got 16mpg city and 25 highway.
probaly 16 cause i was flooring it to see the diffrence. so i dont think it effects mpg at all. but i noticed it was a lot slower. highway is highway.

i popped in the KS sensor today. pulled out of garage and well i didn't notice much of a diffrence, but i only pulled out for a little bit and didn't drive on it hard but i figured it should make a diffrence on the spot. but i'm sure the fault is still there. but i'm wondering shouldn't the ECU detect that i'm getting proper KS signal/ resistance.

obviously i'm going to clear it when i get the time to be shouldn't i have like instant power back? car acts litke a dogg at the moment.

It usually best to reset the ecu so that it still doesnt see it as a fault and run the car in safe mode.

from my experience it takes a day or two of driving after you put in the new sensor and clear the code to actually feel the difference in power. That is provided you don't have a bad 02 sensor as well.

Tell you what man, I have also been battling this for the last year.

Go to radio shack and buy a 5pack of 470k resistors. Its a $1.05 for a 5pack. Unplug the knocksensor subharness (just follow the ks wire to a plug on the driver side of your intake manifold by the front cylinder bank) and stick one of those resistors into the plug side. Go clear your codes and enjoy full timing advance.

The problem honostly sounds like your subharness altogether (16$ from pinnacle?) but Im cheap so I just use the resistor. It will take a little bit of driving because your ecu will GRADUALLY advance your timing up to spec, it does it safely. Just make sure you run the best gas you can get or you're gonna have problems, lol.

i was goinna get those 470k resistors. once i removed the sensor i was like hell i'm never gonna get that in. untill i came home and noticed my little bro with little hands. he got in there with no troble snugged it up and everything.

the harness being faulty either thru poor grounds or w/e it will, will in fact show the KS fault shortly, i'm going to keep a close eye on it. i've driven it about 40 miles medium style driving and i think its still sluggish.
