Increased hesitation/cranking during starts?

I've noticed that with the recent climate change in NYC, my car cranks a bit more than usual until it finally sparks and starts. If I have the car sitting undriven for a few hours or more, and go to start it -- it'll do that. It's never done this in the past, so I somehow don't believe this is normal. I'm not sure if it's the starter, because the car cranks quick and not slow (but perhaps the speed of the crank doesn't matter?).

Can anyone shed some light? Can it be a fuel issue? Starter?

Dead cell in your battery??? Or battery as a whole could be getting old.

You may want to read the "No Start" thread a few slots down and see if it applies to you also .

Nah. That's a fuse issue. My car will always start and run flwlessly, it just cranks a little longer.

Another possible is a loose connector at the starter. Happened to my brother with his 3rd gen.

More than a fuse problem; read further down.

I don't have codes. And it doesn't take more than one turn of the key for it to start. Like I said, it just cranks a little longer than usual before it sparks.

Does it only do it on cold starts? What about if the car is warmed up? Is it still hard to start?

I still think its either your starter or a faulty cell in your battery... Just my $.02...

After installing the Big Three wires, my car never takes more than 2 cranks to start, maybe you want to try this simple mod? And I'm on my original factory battery too.
