Engine Noise: Knock? Rocker?

Hearing a very odd noise from an 03 Max. It sounds like knock or a rocker, but dont think its a rocker.

THe noise is present when rpms are decreasing. Its heard while driving but when revving in neutral its very present.

Is this one of the notorious problems with the 3.5 engine? Fortunately there is still warantee on the car bumper to bumper.

here's the vid

its slightly to the left but sounds a little more toward the rear of the engine.

at the time of the video it was present when rpms were decending, and in neutral with no load.

Sounds like there is sometype of oil starvation but oil level is normal

I've done a few waterpumps on 3.0's and they make that exact same sound for the first 30 seconds or so until oil pressure builds up in the tensioners, it's definitly a timing chain issue, it's under warranty, bring it to a dealer, you'll probably get a new motor.

in this case the car was already fully warmed and was driving for 20 from the parts store to my house.

I'll run some tests and see what I can find out.

it's your timing chain, the things under warranty, bring it in or take the timing chain cover off..........
