05 Pathfinder Bose w/ in Dash 6-Disk CD Changer and MP3 Install ***PICS***

Installed this a couple of months ago. Just now got around to taking some pics. The real nice feature about this is the 6 disk in dash CD player. Hell, I have over 120 songs in this thing. It has that feature that identifies the song, band, and radio station of each song. It also has MP3 capability which is a nice bonus.

The install is really straight forward. All you have to do is drill some new holes in the stock bose mounting brackets and then splice one wire into another wire. Everything else is plug and play.

It came off a 05 Pathfinder.

Basically, look at the P501 connections. You have splice the corresponding wires on your stock electrical connectors. You have to tap K into D.

Credit for that picture is BlackKnight since He was the first to do this and was nice enough to tell me what needed to be done for install.

OK. So now that someone posted this, I have a question. Would that sound better over an aftermarket mp3 player? I want to change the stock BOSE CD player I have because it's driving me nuts... - display keeps going out, and sounds stop working now and then, so I got to the point where I decided I'm gonna replace it because I don't want to spend $198 fixing it. So... Go with a BOSE mp3 player/disc changer like above, or aftermaket?

6 disk IN DASH CD changer is reason enough alone to go with the Pathfinder Bose.

Personally I could care less about the MP3 player. The only reason I did this was because I got tired of always having to manage changing a CD while driving a stick at the same time.

Looks clean too. Where did you get it? Did you notice any difference in sound compared to the old BOSE?

i'd also like to know where you got it from and how much. My bose head is starting to display the error message and some of the displays don't work.

I got it from a friend that won a couple in an ebay auction. He installed one in his Maxima and then hooked me up with the other one.

I did not notice any difference in sound when compared to the old Bose, but then again, I never really paid attention... I'm not really into audio stuff. Performance is more my thing.

After reading this thread I did this mod on my 98 I30
and I can tell you that it is well worth it. No pictures
cause it looks exactly like the one in the first post.
It is really just as simple as the instructions state.
Performance is as good or better than the original head
unit, plus the power antenna works just like it is
supposed to as well. If you are tired of your crappy
head unit then this is a very good alternative to a
complete audio system overhaul.

Now I either have to replace the bulbs in my gages with orange ones,
or try to change the Pathfinder radio display to blue-white.

The mis-match is not very attractive. My opinion.

I can't believe it's taken me so long to read this thread. I've not been on the forums much lately, but now I'm back. Thanks for the credit given to me for being the first and great job i30ds. I'm glad that I inspired more people to do this mod. Also, I'm surprised that you don't really use the MP3 capability since that's mostly what I use. I can put like 6 full albums on a single cd and set it on random or just play through, without having it change disks.

I honestly think that the sound is tremendously better with this unit since it is made by Pioneer and not Clarion like the old one was. While brands don't necessarily mean better, the fact that there is now Bass/Treble/and Mid controls, you can really tune it to your particular preference. Also, there is a factory nissan XM adapter and Ipod adapter that will work with full controls and display readout with this unit, unlike the old bose units. Unfortunately, they are a bit costly, but they provide full integration if you want it. I think the Ipod adapter is like $200, and the XM with receiver, adapter, cable, and antenna is about $400.

Thanks for telling me what to do to make it work. I accidentally won 2 auctions on ebay and sold on to Devin.

Not a problem Zack. Anything I can do to help out fellow .orgers. That's the spirit of this forum, is it not? Lucky for Devin that you bought two.

I hope everyone has a happy holiday season.

Thanks for laying down the foundation on this one. I've already gotten several PMs from guys that did this after they say this thread, so it is spreading.

I don't know for sure, but my guess would yes. Basically, if the unit will fit in the slot where the old unit was and the connectors fit, then all you have to do is drill some new holes in the side mounting bracket.

Cool, I got mine off an Xterra. Ebay's got a ton of these; I wouldn't pay more than $100 (I got mine for considerablly cheaper on ebay).

Just scrolled through here, and didn't notice if it was mentioned -but what color is the backlighting on this HU?

My sister's 00 Pathfinder Bose HU is aging and this would be an easy upgrade (though I'd like the colors to match).
