how are you guys splicing wires for keyless entry/remote start

I was just curious what method you guys have used for splicing wires when installing remote starts/alarms/keyless entry. are you cutting wire then using the little wire caps that you crimp back, or have you guys used the little sleeves that crimp at both ends, or are you guys just twisting wires and using electrical tape (I hope not......seen it done though) what is yall's method?

I'm thinking about buying a remote start and installing one, but I have not done one before, so I'm nervous about fuggin it up. I can install car stereos and I am knowledgeable about electrical systems, and know how to use a multimeter.

Being that Im required to solder every connection for work...

For thicker wire, aka ignition harnesses

For thin wire

PIA but its so much more reliable and safer. BTW, i found all the triggers. To bad an 04 doesnt have more than a 40 pin connector at the BCM. I dont know what the hell is up with the diagrams. Oh well, It was nice pulling the trunk trigger, door triggers, trunk release, both CAN wires and lock data wire from the same location.

crimping ftl on ignition wires. Most people use t taps i guess. Not exactly the safest on high current/large gauge wire imo.

ftl is for the lose. this is a T-Tap:

It's on the left there.

and to crimp them, i use snap-on battery terminal pliers. they work like they were meant to do the job..

Strip the wire but not cut it, then thread the other wire through, twist the threaded wire around the original then solder.
