235 safe on a 7.5" rim?

Quick question: Are 235/40/18 tires safe on a 7.5" rim? I was previously running 225 no problem and when I check 235, it seems that the recommended rim width is 8". Just wanting to make sure before I buy.

I'm sure its safe, but I don't know how it'll look. I had 235 45 17 on my 17x7 rim and it was perfectly safe (as far as i could tell). The only thing was that the side will kinda bulged out just a tad. But I think it depends on the tire, cuz 235 on some tires stick out more than others i think (at least it looks like it does).

They are a bit wide the recommended rim width is 8.0 - 9.5" for a 235/40-18.

right. but i searched a bit and found that quite a few people run 235s on Murano rims (what i have and they are 7.5") so i should be fine.

yea, i love those rims! OEM quality and a subtle look FTW!

I checked what I should have checked from the beginning: OE tire size for Muranos on those rims is 235/65/18.

I run them through the winter with A/S tires. No problems.

i just got some Nexen N3000 off of ebay for a great price. I'll get them mounted sometime during the winter and then put them on in the spring. sawblades with YK420s are the winter wheels.
