3rd Party Extended warranty recommendation

I have just picked up a Maxima 03 SE with 63K miles, it certainly is out of Nissan warranty. Do you guys have any recommendation for a good 3rd party extended warranty company?

Any +ve claim experiences ?

Thanks

+1, I am interested in this as well. Especially if there is one that supports modified cars by any chance.

I have one through Interstate Star Auto, they have been great. Never denied a claim, VERY easy claim service. All I have to do is have a repair shop call them (any shop I chose) tell them it is broken and how much it will be to fix... They approve it over the phone right there and that is it.

The best part is, I can go buy parts myself and submit the reciept to them and they will have a check on my door step in under a week.

As I said before I DO NOT have to go to Nissan!! That is huge for me since I hate all the Nissan dealers in my area.

I'll share my brief encounter with a 3rd party extended warranty I considered. I bought my 2000 with 24.5k on it in 9/05. So it had very few miles for its age. One day I got a warranty in the mail. The only reason I considered it was because it was good until 100,000 miles and no time limit. If I remember correctly, it was about $1,200 dollars, which was also reasonable. The other part to consider was what exactly was covered and under what circumstances. Now, I threw away the info 'cause it expired a while ago, but I remember it as being fairly comprehensive, engine component-wise. It wasn't the best possibly coverage, but for the money it looked tempting. One key phrase that stuck in my head was that the warranty was only valid if a covered component resulted in the mechanical breakdown of the car. I took that to mean that if, for example, the water pump went out or was intermittently malfunctioning, I would probably notice the engine temps going out of control before I let the engine breakdown. So, to me, the wording was a little suspicous and probably would not work to the buyers advantage. Adding [serious] engine modifications into the mix would also be another disadvantage I think.

How did you get this warranty? Looks like one has to get it from an Agent/dealer - I did not find a way to get it online directly from the provider.

How about cost & number of miles/year coverage?

Thanks

It was offered from my bank when I got my loan (Chase, but I now HATE that bank), I think they have a list of agents on the website... I paid just under $1,100 for the best warranty plan for an additinal 50,000 miles, that would bring my warranty to 94,500 miles.

My warranty covers just about everything, except normal wear and tear items, fluids, exhaust and emissions. They don't cover emmisions, but I still convinced them to cover my o2 sensors.

I have mine through National AutoCare. They have been pretty good to me. Their best warranty was 900.00, it has paid for about 2,000.00 in repairs.

I have a AAA aftermarket warranty... was $1169 for the Platinum coverage... They actually list whats not covered which is great! So if the parts not listed you are good to go!
It came in handy when my MAF blew... Fairly easy to deal with... They pay with a Credit Card too, so theres no delay in getting the car back out...
